Sputtering

I have a 1999 standard-Ive previously owned a new 2001 standard-Both when holding throttle to
keep rpm's at 1500 to 2000 not when riding kinda sputter a bit-but reving and under load does not-I would guess this is normal because of the camshaft lift and duration-Not a problem at all i would guess they all do that-Any info would be appreciated

Mine does that, only not bad enough that I would describe it as "sputtering."  But it does seem to have very mild misses in that range when not under load.  I have heard other Valks do that when looking at videos on Youtube.  A well informed friend is pretty sure a carb sync will fix that.  I sure don't know.  I don't have the tools, and may pay a guy here in town to sync them for me just to see.

It will still do it if the carbs are synch'ed.

It is just like any carburated engine, they all do it.

Mine has done it for 242K miles except for the 5K it had a Blower.

Just ride it and no worry about it.

Thanks for the info-I figured if my new 2001 did it it was normal- my 1999 isnt is bad as
the new one was-Anyway i learned a good lesson dont sell a valkyrie-It took me 6 years to find my 1999-lucked up its like new and only 10500 miles on it-Rings are just about seated now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Search under "slow jet" replacement.  I am going to replace the slow jets this winter and sync...  for a "precision" machine like the Valk with only 20,000 miles it is kind of annoying.   (gotta love fuel injection).

well, actually anytime you start putting a carb for every cyl. on an engine, you will always have that problem. physics just plain dictate that you can never get 6 carbs tuned 100% the same. if you could, you still have the problem of deposits under valves, one intake flows better than another, etc. just can't get it 100% with more than 2 carbs.

i paid ginormus bucks for a state of the ard set of balance guages for the valk. mine has that miss, or actually an imbalance right around 2500 RPM. to make it go away i have to balance my carbs at 2500 rpm, that gets rid of it ????? nope just sends it down to 1200 rpm. aint nothing wrong here, just plain old race car stuff.

if any of you live around, or travel through western colorado, gimme a call, i will balance your carbs free.
