  I was just reading on a local m/c board about a guy who was doing a fluid change on his brakes and was unsure if he had put the brake reservoir internals back correctly.  Instead of going to the net or dealer to check, he sees a same brand bike in a mall parking lot.  He proceeds to use a screwdriver to take the top off the brake reservoir to look inside without asking the owner who was not around anyway.  Satisified he had done the job correctly, he replaced the top and went on his merry way. 

I sent him a note what I thought about his actions and he better hope he never goes near my Valk.

SHOT? A little bit drastic there, but a good way to get a good thump up alongside the head. I would be more than a little pissed to find someone screwing with my bike. I check into quite a few MC boards and the stories of people thinking it's okay to try out the seating position, have their kids climbing on the bike for pictures, and things like helmets and parts stolen right in a parking lot are too common. I know, cause I was one of those who took his helmet out of the bag, set it on the bike in KS so I'd remember to put it on as we went into MO. Came out and it was gone. Had to find a Wally World to pick up a cheap one to ride thru MO.

   First, Its wrong. I never as much as touch another bike or car without permission.
  Now down to the real buisness. Do not hit them in the head in this instance, a bat or tire iron  to the shins (much better , smaller area of contact) will be a better reminder as it raises a huge , painful bump that will be a reminder of the no-no. As they lie on the ground, you tell them of the error of their ways and let then know that the next time, it will be serious.

i feel a bit uneasy when i come out and there's a guy actually just looking at my cycle.  sure they'll say something stupid like "is that a harley?" but to have 'em touching my bike, totally uncalled for.

I've caught more than one person and prevented them from dragging their fingers through the dust on my chrome and paint. Looking at my chrome and paint i KNOW i haven't caught them all. Ya can't fix stupid. RIDE SAFE.

For the life of me, I just couldn't believe that a fellow rider would do that.    I have stopped and looked at someone elses ride, got down on the ground to maybe see how something was assembled and even pointed at some art work or specialized piece and said "Look at that ... pretty sweet!" But you just don't go touching the ride with out the owner saying "Sure, no problem."

Something tells me that he needs to be taught a lesson and not just a baseball bat ... maybe when he comes out of the bar and sees his bike in pieces with a note that says "Just wanted to know how it was assembled" would clue him in.

Came outta the store and this dude was mighty comfy on the Valk.
His girlfriend was standing there and lookin smarter than him. I walked up and grabbed the honey, kissed her on the cheek, squeezed a boob and Jr. got all huffy. I advised him to get off my bike and consider himself lucky. The look on his face when I asked her if she wanted a ride was priceless.
I dont usually carry a bat,or a pistol. I always carry alot of training and a humorous attitude.

  With out going into a lot of detail, Yes , I have been in fights as an adult (?) . I did not go looking for them, but it is not very often that I would back down. I would try to talk it down if there was time, but I would not back down. Yes, I have been the loser, but just once. Today, I could not do much more than use my cane to defend myself. But that is a whole new story. I will try to use judgement, but do not make a threat to  family or friends!

I just remembered this incident. A few years back I stopped at a restaurant with a friend. When we came outside there was a guy with his kid (maybe six years old) sitting on my friend's bike. My friend lit into the guy with expletives and I could see the kid getting very upset. My sympathy instantly shifted towards the other guy. Yeah he was being ignorant, but there's no reason to behave that way in front of a child. They're not all bad people looking to break your stuff, they just don't understand the bond between man/woman and bike. Maybe try explaining to them that what they're doing is wrong (and even dangerous) and maybe they'll think twice the next time.

I was at a family Thanksgiving years ago when we still pretended to get along well enough to all have it together. It was a big family event with cars clogging the driveway and most of the street in two directions. I pulled up in the front yard of my aunt's house. She didn't mind. I ate lunch and talked to the cousins I liked. Then I stepped out in the yard. One of my cousins had a snotty kid drooling all of my CB750 tank. I asked simply, "do you think you need to be touching the bike?" I wasn't mean. I didn't scream. I didn't thump my cousin or the guys she was dating that were watching. I didn't swear. Heck, I may have smiled, but something about my overly calm voice and eyes indicated she needed to snatch her kid off. She got the message. Some folks do.

I never had another problem with it there. A few years later the family gatherings stopped. Once my grandmother died the large get-togethers didn't make as much sense.

I've often sat in restaurants watching people look at the bike. I've never seen anyone lay a hand on it, but its the hands I don't see that concern me.

just amazing that another one of your post is the exact post from yrs ago almost word for word.
some of your other posts have been the same, a copy of other posts from various sites and u add a little to make it your own experience. u did the same about oil filters a awhile back, copied something from an airplane site and acted like it was your knowledge, whereas in reality it had nothing to do with the oil filter thread that was going on. really sad.

This is exactly like the discussions I get into with other property owners. People don't respect other folks property. Trespassing, messing with bikes/cars/stuff, its the entitlement mentality.

Blow 16K on 2 4 wheelers while owning a half acre and expect to use other peoples property to ride them because "kids gotta have fun" and you moved to "the country" so you could ride 4 wheelers. Take apart someones brakes to look at them is ok because you need to know. Taking wood that is already cut into pieces is ok because its not stacked. Putting your trash with the neighbors is ok because you didn't pay your bill and they are going to pick up there anyway. Dumping your house trash in a dumpster at a business is ok because.... well I never got a excuse for that one. Trespassing during hunting season is ok, because the deer might be there.

 I had a Gold Wing Interstate with a very small decal that said " If you value your life like I value this bike don't f$$$ with it"  I came out of the restuarant and there was an older couple by the bike and the woman was trying to scratch off the decal. I asked  (nicely) what she was doing . This is profane language, I am doing everyone a favor by removing it. I asked . what if the biker comes out and has a bad attitude, and confronts you. Before she could answer. I asked where her car was. Why?
So I can go rummaging thru it and scratch something up. Its my bike, now get lost before I get angry. . It stopped there , I am supprised I was that calm.

"Daddy, we were walking down the road and two men pulled over and beat us up.  One had a gun."  Daddy was a car dealer and made good deals on Chevys to local cops.  One phone call got my pals rounded up and in a small jail.  The kid was a high school football player and the boy-idol of that little town.   My friends made a costly mistake as their self-defense was too aggressive.

Moral of story:  In some little towns the local Chevy dealer is the richest and most powerful man.  And, you never know who somebody's daddy is.
