I also would suggest putting a towel or anything over the rest of your cycle, just because an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure….  Something like that…..

By the way, there’s one metric allen screw holding that unit onto your handlebar, I think it’s either a 5mm or 4mm.

This could explain the problem I'M having with my Valkryie Interstate radio as well!
Damn thing only seems to play WHEN IT WANTS TO!!  It may not come on when I
first start the bike (and nothing on the LCD display except the fuel gauge) but then
ex number of miles down the road, it will just pop-on and start playing (and shows
up on the LCD display as well!?  There are times I will have to go a whole day without
a radio, and other days when it comes on and plays just fine all day!?   I've had the
controller apart, but never thought to spray it with electronic contact cleaner!!
Thanks for the heads up!  I'll give it a try! :-)

It could be the jumper block inside your wiring harness. Its located near the swing arm under the battery box. What you described is exactly what was going on with my radio/display but its all fixed now.

When I started to have problems, I was working on the wiring I had placed behind the batt box. I removed (unplugged) the radio and later reinstalled it. It has never worked since. I did check out the diode on the harness under the radiator reservoir. Is that the jumper block you are referrring to?
