Cancer sucks!

He emphasized that technology really does not change the world.

What a statement from such a giant of a man.

He said we are born , we live , and then we move on through death.

All so briefly he said.

SO I believe to live is to live, this is not a dress rehearsal, this is the real thing.

Tell people you love them.

Tell them they mean something to you now.

You never know what the future holds.

But he was a real guy who really contributed to our daily lives.

I worked about 2 blocks away from Apple in '79 - '82 and took care of a lot of Apple employees.  It was great to see these high tech guys who were there at the beginning become rich at a young age.  They were all jeans and T-shirt guys.  Jobs was a very inspiring guy. 

May he RIP, a true visionary.

I liked him

I didn't. Primarily because he allowed his company to become all of the things that they were against in the beginning.

But he was a brilliant man and a shaper of culture and technology the likes of which is seen once every few decades. I'm not a fan of his company's practices but I am typing this on a Mac because it simply works better than anything else for my purposes.

Liked or not, the business world has lost a giant.

It might be wrong, but I deleted all the crap arguing posts.  I have the power, and I used it tonight.

If you have something to say about Mr. Jobs, we'd love to hear it.  So please post away.

If you want to post the aforementioned crap that has nothing to do with the very sad news of Mr Job's passing, then move on.

While I disagreed with 99% of his political views and causes, I greatly admired his technical genius and business acumen.  Another loss of a technical visionary that leaves a void that will be hard to fill.

Probably more than anyone else he was responsible for the current "computer in every house".  Apple or PC.  All arguments aside he was a true visionary.  The world is a lesser place without him.

I don't think it is appropriate though to just pull posts because a topic relates to you personally.  Many of us on this board have known and lost loved ones to cancer.  Let's have an open board without you pulling a subject sensitive to yourself.

Can't argue with you one bit.  I appreciate your honest response. 

If the original posters want to start a thread debating various treatments(or non treatments) for cancer that would be just fine with me.  But to reply to a post by someone who HAS cancer about someone passing away because of cancer with what was posted.....I'm just not gonna let it pass. I have to much respect for both of them.  (Just being honest again)

When I heard that Steve Jobs had passed away, I was boarding a train from New York to Philadelphia to visit my son. A friend phoned and then text-messaged me the news before I could read it on Twitter. It felt, I said later, as if someone had torn the hair out of my head.

When I did tweet, the first semi-coherent thought I was able to write about Jobs was also about my son:

I'm on my way to PHL to see my son, who uses a device Steve Jobs invented to help him talk. He will never know. He will never know.

My son is on the autism spectrum and has a severe receptive and expressive language delay. He's 4 years old, and can read and spell words, and sing entire songs, but is more like an 18-month- or 2-year-old in normal conversation. He cannot use a telephone and has a hard time sitting still for video telephony. He has a thoroughly well-loved iPod Touch, filled with videos and apps that have helped him learn to speak and augment his ability to communicate.

I have made some bad decisions, we all have, we just have to love one another any way.

I've heard from several folks and a few doctors as well pancreatic cancer is one of the most painful types of cancer.

My brother-in-law died 4 years ago at age 50 from pancreatic cancer.  He lasted just over a year.  Painful, and withered away to nothing.

Terrible.  I would not blame anyone for whatever they saw as their answer to this disease.
