What should my temp be running? I dont think my gauge is working.

Mine runs right at 175 on the open rode, starts rising slightly at any stop light.

Lawdog:  Easy does it!!  What makes you think you're runnig too hot???  What you're experiencing  might be in the Valks "normal" operating temp. range.  My OEM temp. thermostat does a pretty good job at holding 180 degrees under all normal riding conditions.  (I have a coolent gauge) However, at 75 mph or more on a 85 to 90+ degree day 180 to 195 is not too high. All the other Valks I been around in heavy traffic will climb to as much as 215 degrees and the fan will come on.  That also is OK, as long as the temp comes back down after a mile or so of steady riding and you experience no coolent lose!

But if it's registering a temp lower than mentioned above, then you may have a stuck open thermostat, a bad sending unit or just a bad electrical connection.  This is assuming you have a temp gauge to actually know what temp it's running....   If you're relying on the light on the tach meter, then it's hard to know what the temp is.

If you're relying on hearing the fan come on don't worry about it unless it doesn't go off shortly after you get moving or it doesn't come on way before the red warning light!
