Mick-O-Pegs Installation

I bought my Mick-O-Pegs used with no mounting instructions.  But the installation seemed straight forward and they seem to work fine.  Just a little cumbersome as my toe nudges the peg on down shifts and rear braking.  The pegs at rest are roughly the same elevation as the shift peg and the brake pedal.

Last weekend I saw a photo of a Valkyrie with Mick-O-Pegs mounted way different than mine.  While my bars at rest are parallel to the ground, Daniel Meyer's bars are not even close to horizontal.  Have I mounted these guys wrong?

i have an interstate  If you have a standard or tourer I am no help but mick

Mick says if you cut the interstate scoops you can have them a bit more forward
maybe an inch or so

They should be above horizontal. Maybe have the wrong covers or something...check with mick-o-pegs and they'll set you straight.

Yes the movable arm should up hard against the top of the frame slot. The spring needs to be tensioned.  Loosen the cap, keeping it engaged with the spring and rotate the cap CCW 1/4. Be careful with the spring, as I think you can break them.

In your pic it looks like the 'leg' is not in the full up position.  Don't try to rotate the cover an additional 1/4 turn because the cover can't fit over the roll pins that way and a 1/2 turn will damage the spring.

You can tell if the spring is already damaged by removing the spring from the cover and look at it.  If it is out of round, it has been damaged - BUT CAN OFTEN BE REPAIRED.

Using a couple pair of pliers, bend the spring back to being round.  If the top wind of the spring is just a little larger circle, that's OK because when you assemble it, the spring hole in the "leg" will keep the spring where it needs to be (inside the machined groove of the cover).  Hope that helps.

With your feet on them, do they ever scrape in corners?

Anyone know if Kury pilots or something similar will easily replace the stock pegs on the Mick-O-peg?

it is not recommended to use the micko's while in the curves.

Thanks for the advice.  I've been busy with other projects, so not had a chance to disassemble the pegs.  You are correct that the support bars are not in the full up position, I'm pretty sure they are hitting a roll pin, so I have them assembled improperly.

I will post back when I find the time to take them apart.

+1 on they are not for switchbacks

Depending on your lean angle you can use them in curves and sweepers with no problem

On switchbacks where you need to push down farther they will hit but they just spring up
It is unnerving when they do that so I prefer my feet on the regular boards or if I am going normal Oss slow speed highway pegs in twisty roads

 Highbinder showed me that if I keep my knees in against the tank when I visited them in
July I have more control and it does help provided I am on the floorboards and not the highway pegs

Well actually nothing can get me to keep up with LD but at least i was able to still see them thru the crazy road they took at warp speed
