Seat Lock

Well this is embarrassing.  I have had the seat off a million times but this last one will not let it go.  I have a interstate tank on a standard with a standard sized Mustang seat.  I have wiggled it while holding the key open and it won't let go.

Any tricks to get this thing to let go?

Try pushing down on the seat while turning the key. 

I've got a Mustang and now an Ultimate King (also have had a Corbin stinger and both OEM versions...old & new).  They've all done that from time to time.

It's the lock itself not the cable.  The last tiny bit of it will not turn enough to pull the lock open to fully release the seat tab.  

ETA  -  I also noticed that the locking tab on the bottom of the Mustang seat moves about 1/16th of an inch which may be grabbing the last bit of the lock.

I opened hole system and I'am pretty sure that the cable is stretch out...
Lock is turning all the way but it's not enough. The locking tab isn't open enough.

Have to do something>probably not so hard to fix by some mode...

Although I may be incorrect, I seem to recall that the cable is a single wire rather than a stranded type.

The best medicine for a troublesome seat release is oil directly on the mechanism and at the outside entry where the inner cable enters to let oil drain down and inside the cable.

It'll surprise you how well this treatment works.

Like I said, lock turns all the way, but it's not enough for the locking tab...

My I/S latch used to do the same thing. Found that the cable had streched,...replaced cable and no more problems.

Right after i bought my I/S had to go to the stea er dealer and have that very cable replaced. Every once in awhile new parts are called for. RIDE SAFE.

put a cable tie around the latch(a good one) and secure it in place this should take care of all your issues.The latch just gets pulled at some point by the cable,this will go a long way to fixing it.You can always get your hand or a screwdriver in there and trip the latch if needed.
