valkyrie versus road king

I like Harleys,i have owned 2,the last was a 2004 ultra.I was just craigslisting and looked at road kings.big windshield,plastic saddlebags,floorboards,big seat,sissybar and luggage rack.Cheapest one was 2002 for $7000.00.Having owned v twins i know you would have a hard time getting 100 hp or 100 pounds of torque out of a twin cam.Plus it would take so much money to get it there and the rideability and reliability wouldnt be there.I am even more happy with my  valkyrie when i compare the 2.My motor might need rebuilding at 200,000.More than my lifetime.

so is it because they are American made?Even when i owned one i felt hoodwinked.I bought into the hype.900 pounds and 62 hp.I have  only seen 1 valkyrie in the past 6 months.I own a classic .

I sold my 2003 flht after I test rode a couple valks,,with the grin on my face I had to have it..If I could have two bikes, they would be the flht and 1500cf. ..but will be lucky to keep one with two teenagers..they kinda expensive

I like the looks of the Road King and would not mind one if I could have a few different bikes.  However, I can only ride one at a time so I'll stick with the Valkyrie.

Your Valkyrie is American made.  It should have "Made in USA" stamped on the engine on the right side near the valve cover.  It was manufactured in Marysville, OH, where all Honda motorcycles 750cc and larger were made up until a couple of years ago.   I toured the factory in 2003 and watched VTXs and Runes being manufactured.

VP mine is a 01 and it doesn't have the "Made in USA". I think it was only on the earlier models pre-2001. Something to do with a lawsuit if my rememberur is working correctly. "They" didn't like it that Honda made a bike in the USA!

My 2000 doesn't have it either.  I believe only the 97-99s had Made in USA on the engines.  Same with the pillion seats.  I've also heard the '99 Orange & Black was a thumb in the eye of the ol' bar & shield, but it could be nothing more than a great story.

If I had a buck for every time I have been told that my orange/black is painted in the "Harley paint scheme"  I could buy a couple of tanks of gas to ride my Harley wannabe.
