180/65B-16 (81H) Dunlop American Elite Rear Tire

Anyone tried one of these ??  It's the American made Dunlop
I'm assuming it would be a little smaller diameter.

I personally wouldn't wear another DunFlop on MGM even if I had room for a car load of them up my rectum.

I lost a very good friend to a DunFlop with 4,100 miles on it.

He had a Gold Wing and he rode it fairly briskly.

Sure, it was his fault cause he didn't check his rear tire tread before every ride.

He told his wife he'd be back in time for supper.    He never made it back period.

The rear tire let go, an when it did it had a 4 to 5" swatch of cords showing.

He bought the Wing brand new right out of the crate.  Took delivery and 6 weeks later he was in a casket.

I blame him, but his wife blames the tire.   I keep telling her to this day, ya got to check them damn tires before ya take off for a ride.

I don't think he ever knew what hit him.  He had to of been dead shortly after meeting the pavement with his face and shoulders.   

So if ya only listen to one thing I say, please listen to this.    Check them firkin tires for tread before a ride.

I am on my second american elite, 20k on the first one, 15k so fsr on the second.  I also run a d404f on front, same on the milage, they are both bias tires and handle as well as any other I have used.  They do not have a flat spot or cupping on either set.  they both last about the same, so they fit in well with my maintenence schedule, doing it all at once.  I have tried all the others, and will not look back.  As for the height, possibly, but I don't notice much difference in speedo readings and gas mileage.  As for cost, less than most others.  Hoser

Sorry about the loss of your friend   The tires I'm talking about are the American Elite's made for Harley-Davidson and are Made In USA. I'm with ya on the use of OEM Dunlop tires as I heard a lot of horror stories myself and shy away from using them on my bike. I'm looking for input on the American Elites like Hoser commented on.

If you buy the one at Harley Shop that says Harley Davidson on it, is a D407R, same tire, only costs you 100 bux more.  The American Elite is the replacement tire for  that. They both are made in America.   Hoser
