Carburator vs Fuel Injection

I'm just curious.

Supposedly, the Gold Wings came out with fuel injection for the 1500 engine back in 1988. Why didn't they make the Valkyries with fuel injection?  ???

EDIT - I think the info regarding the 1500 engine being fuel injected in 88 is incorrect.

Your edit is correct, they did have one model of the 1200 with FI, but not the 1500. Didn't come into play until the 1800.

Why didn't our Valks come with FI ?? I don't know,but, FI certainly doesn't look as kewl as 6 carburetors..

FI was on 2 years of 1 model bike.      1985 SE Wing (Brown) and the 1986 SEi Wing (Cream), both 1200's.

Had a 86, and now I wish I'd of kept it after I got the vapor lock cured.   They located the fuel pump toooooo close to the exhaust.     When ya worked the hell out of the bike in the heat, like down South, she would vapor lock real quick.   Once I figured out what the problem was, we stopped and bought my daughter a 1,000 squirt water gun.     She was instructed to fire at the pump when I hollered at her in the intercom.      She got us from Tallahassee to Chillicothe, MO in one day, keeping the pump cool.      Last 500 miles of the trip was in the rain so it kept itself cool.

I like carbs even if they can be a PITA sometimes. FI became inevitable as electronic engine management got more sophisticated, and environmental laws more onerous.

I seem to remember reading about some of the blower guys using EFI. If so, what system and can it work without the blower?

I like both, but you can push start one with carbs and that has saved my bacon more than once.

RJ.. Good story.  I had a 86 Aspencade, wish I would have kept that bike.   
FUEL INJECTION on my 2003 Vulcan Nomad, works flawlessly.  Valk with fuel injection would be slick.
