I picked up a "Blitz" brand can from Wal Mart. It's 1 gallon 4oz. Fits real nice towards the rear of my saddle bag. I don't remember what I paid for it, but I'm sure it wasn't much more than ten bucks or so.

The boy and I carried a can of gas on the way home from Glacier Park last year. We bought US 2 home and were a little nervous about finding enough gas stops.

We never needed it but it was kinda neat fueling my lawnmower with Idaho gas.  Smiley

MODIFY:  Oh, sorry. see greenlantern57 suggested same one.  Wink
though i think the ad with mine is "cuter"

some have suggested much cheaper ones, but this is what i have.  safe.  only had to use it once but that made up for price.  only load it for long trips with speed.

I love the picture on the redagascan website... shows a can with the spout between the breasts of a bikini clad lovely... with the caption on each side: "Perfect Fit"   2funny

It never would have occurred to associate a portable gas can with tits... but okay.

I carried a few of these 30 ounce bottles in my saddlebags when riding in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.  There are some pretty desolate areas where there are no gas stations and cell phones don't work.  These are small (I have the 30 ounce) but you can carry 4 of these and they take up very little room.  You also don't have to worry about fumes or gas smell as they seal completely.

just another alternative to allow another 15 to 30 miles of range...

The REDA was the one I was referring to in my original post.  Seems to be that is the only one available....But around 37.00 with shipping, seems crazy!!  (after more discovery, it was made for a Harley.....So I'm surprised it is so reasonable!) 2funny

I'm guessing this is so overpriced as it is a motorcycle accessory plus "made" for a Harley??

What makes this so special? safe?  Is it simply a self venting lid?  Surely there must be others available.  I've seen the no spill tanks for about 15.00.

I bought a REDA.

It's useless.

Just tired to pour gas from the REDA into bike tank.

Gas came out of the base of the screw on cap.

Then I tried pouring without the spout.

Still useless. I was using a funnel but gas still dribbled down the side of the can onto my bike tank.
The supplied yellow spout is a P.O.S as wel.

Maybe drill/cut a vent hole on the other side?

Then come up with a plug of some sort so dirt doesn't get in when sitting.

Most cans come with a gasket on the main fill/pour hole; make sure it's in there, and that the cap is tight.

Glad I have a collection of the old good jugs (BTW I like old good jugs); I just did my semiannual 100 mile run to fill them all with no-corn gas yesterday.  (about 20 gallons, and my truck too, since it sits a lot)

I messed with the gasket to no avail. If I tightened the cap any more the threads would have stripped.

The fellow I met up in Jasper had a blue 2 gallon container
looks like this one

If I was riding to Alaska or thru Argentina or some desolate place I would want more than one gallon in reserve. He had his strapped to the luggage carrier like a backrest

I was referring to several really old threads being recently resurrected.

I doubt the sincerity of your apology.   Wink

OSS,

That is the gas container that Stan carried on his trailer at InZane in Morgantown.  He helped me out when we ran out a mile from the hotel.  Bought us one and carry it on longer trips.  Little expensive but very rugged.

I would  just go buy the cheapest basic red 1 to 1.5 gallon gas can and put one in each side saddlebag on trips say out west where 5-6 gallons of gas between gas stations is not enough.

Every 100 miles or so stop and let the snap on air vent escape the air out hissing for 10-15 seconds.

I use a basic red 2.5 gallon gas can strapped to my ATV rack on trips in the boonies where say 100 miles or more is pushing it at tops 25 mpg.
