Another question for a bike lift

I'm in the market for a lift and came across this lift, will this work on our bikes if not what is needed to make it work ? Also what are your thouht on the lift in question.

What else is recommended that's stable and safe ? Its much cheaper than the lift table I have been wanting. The ones like the stealerships use.

Thanks guys for the info and  links the HF lift the yellow one will it allow you to work on the bike from both sides? I question it due to the rail sticking up

You'll need an adapter for any bike lift that you buy.  

One thing I noticed about that lift is that you have to get down on the floor to let the bike down.  I'd rather let it down with a foot pedal (like the Craftsman lift) and still be holding on to the bike myself.....but that's just me.  

And for the money that they want for that one bike lift, you could add another 30 bucks and buy yourself a good Craftsman bike lift (when they're on sale)........PLUS a Harbor Freight table lift to boot (with the coupon).

22Dasher.....I have a Handy Air table with all the bells, etc./A pit Bull Lift/ and 2-Sears lifts.   That said...After looking at that video:  I would buy that jack in a second if I was going to buy another....It looks like a real good one.  I would order the jack adapter off of e-bay that mounts permanatly to the bike...they are put together real good.  I have got one on each of my valks.

It will raise your bike just like any other lift, but it only has two speeds to let your bike down, fast & faster.  And it will go all the way to the floor.  There is no way to inch it down by letting off a small amount of hydrolic pressure at a time.  I have one in my shop that belongs to another guy and had to transfer his bike over to my old Craftsman lift before reinstalling his rear wheel....Jim

I use a pitbull lift that is similar to the JS jack lift and am very happy with it. I wouldn't be misled by the video in the jsjack website. The HD's are much more stable on a lift than the Valk ever will be even with an adaptor. The big foot print of the jsjack and pitbull is better than the cheaper ones that are on the market IMHO.

I've heard of too many problems with Chinese lifts. Low grade bolts that break or welds that give out. The JS and Pitbulls are the only new lifts that I would use. I got a Dunwell back when they were still made. I sold a red Craftsman and din't like it. Too flexy for me when the Valk was up on it. Craftsman's aluminum lift is a good one. I had a chance to use one and it was very stiff and stable.

I have both the H-F lift (the small yellow one) - or had it, gave it away - and the Craftsman.  The Sears one is far more sturdy, has more features, includes tiedown straps, has throttleable lowering, and costs only a little more on sale.  However you would be able to work using the HF lift, and probably be happy with it - until you got to use a Craftsman lift.  Then I'd bet you'd buy the latter and give the HF away like I did.  IOW buying the HF lift is a mistake, there are better choices.

I have always wanted a Pitbull Jack.  Love the way they can spin the bike with ease.  How does the JS Jack measure up to the PitBull?  I think Pitbull jacks are more money.

I bit the bullet and bought a Pitbull last year. After having the Valkyrie on Craftsman and now on the Pitbull... the difference in stability is like night and day.

Yep, it's way more expensive, but to me worth every penny. I didn't get the "turntable" feature as I don't have room to turn the bike as is, so no need.

I prolly wouldn't need the strap but I had it on there over night and felt better that it was strapped down and the front wheel supported. What you see is my ride up on a standard Pitbull lift. I use it for cleaning & maintenance as well and is nice that you can roll it around with it up in the air. All the pivot points have grease fittings and is built like a brick sh*t house !!

I like the Ross Spoonland style adapter and a cart I built to set the whole thing on when I work on it. See pictures.This setup works great for me.There are 2 bolts that I bolt up through the top of the cart into the adapter that holds the entire thing together when the bike is on the cart. You can not see them in these pictures, but trust me they are there.

Thanks once again for the added input. I think I'll be safe and go with either the pitbull or the JS lift as i just can't seem to find anything negative about either one, yes they are expensive but what isn't for a bike.

Not cheap but a fantastic bit of kit. They do an adaptor specially for the Valkyrie, I haggled and got him to include it for free. The valk is actually bolted to the lift. No hydraulics, raised up and down on a threaded bar using an electric drill...

I won't argue that it can be a quick decent loaded..... made my heart skip a few beats and almost soiled my skivvies the first time I lowered it.  However, I did make a modification by adding an adjustable "stop" so the pedal doesn't open the valve all the way.... and it comes down very slow now.  I have had two of these HF jacks for years and they are still working fine.  A Larin lift failed me and left my bike stranded up.... got the HF lift to get me out of that jam.

I have had bad things happen or almost happen with a Craftsman lift, a Larin lift and even the HF lift... they all have some issues, it's just what you do to work around them.  Even expensive lifts can  have their own issues.

Thanks guys for your input, I purchased an adapter for my bike off eBay and by grace of the good man above found a near new JS lift on CL 30 mins from my house for 250.00 so going to pick that up in the morning. Now I'm able to do my own work.

  Nice find !!

Once you get your adaptor the tricky part is putting it on because you'll have to loosen the sidestand to install it. I'm sure there are several ways around it but one of the other things that is nice to have is a wheel chock. It would work great to install your adaptor and for other things like changing oil and giving the bike a bath

If you push the HF lever all the way down it will let your bike down slowly...I know that sounds backwards but that is how it is
