water is something like 740 times denser then air, and stops super sonic rounds even more efficiently. there was a segment on mythbusters where they shot a variety of weapons into a swimming pool, pistol rounds survived but even the .50 cal got shredded when hitting water.

agreed! I thought the gun might come apart under that kind of pressures.
the deeper you go pressure increases 300 feet down I bet the bullet won't leave the barrel.
