Talked with Daryl today. I finally had the funds to buy a hitch from him and he is not making them due to demand.
He did say if there were 3 or 4 interested he would do a special run. If any of You are on the fence or was thinking
about getting one from him give him a shout and let him know. maybe we can get enough interest for him to make some. Since he is a sponsor of this club then that is that much better. Tbone

There was a hitch in classifieds for $100 bucks today if you are needing one bad. Im not saying dont support xf6, and I would be interested in knowing just what a new xf6 hitch costs now.

I support all the venders myself when possible.

The one I looked at at InZane x was stainless and ran 450.00  I will see if I can get a picture and post it. You may
get a better one from Daryl.  Tbone

I have one on my Interstate, XF6 makes a quality product. Beautiful welds, and precise fit.

Guys, someone posted drawings to make your own.  I mads mine 8 years ago and have had no problems and it only cost me $20.

Here's the link to the Gonzo's garage schematic/blueprint for a Valk hitch.  I've met Gonzo before and he's top-notch, but not everyone has the access to the metalworking equipment he does, so some of us have to buy those things.

tbone.....That's my bike picture with Daryls hitch installed.  I'll guarantee you that you will not find a better quality hitch out there...iIt is stainless with a polished finish, so when it gets dirty, a wet rag will shine it right up.  Quality work.

tbone

Goose. hope you don't mind me using the pic. That is the one Daryl sent me when I inquired last year about the hitch. Guess I waited to long. Hopefully he has some orders and will be able to do a batch. Thanks for the feedback. I saw
the one he had a inzane X and it was impressive. I am not much of a welder so I will have to buy what I need.  Tbone

GOOSE

tbone....No, I don't mind at all.....I have had several of the other brands of hitches on my Valks in the past, and this is one that I really do like.  It's quality made out of stainless/polished/welded perfectly/ and with all the mounting hardware included.  To be honest with you....I think that I put it on for the looks as much as to pull anything behind it.  There are not alot of people out there left that manufacture that do it with all their heart, and soul........Daryl is one of those that has to have it perfect for him to be happy with it.  I hope that there will be enough people interested to have him make another run.

Can you still use the oem bag rails with Daryl's hitch?  Does the hitch get in the way of the rails at the rear of the fender....or does it all clear?

Also, do you have to make spacers and spread out the bag rails to after mounting the hitch?
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

tbone

BF- Probably the best person to ask is Daryl or maybe someone from the group can jump in and answer. I did
ask if there were any issues with the bags on remount. He said he had not run into any problems. I do not have bag rails so I did not ask about that. Tbone

Running Honda-line bag rails on a Valkyrie Interstate, with Daryl's stainless hitch, no problems at all, have 1/8 spacers between the hitch and the fender rails, that was all that was required.

Using the Gonzo diagram and a piece of foam board to make a template, I made my own.  I took the template to a local shop and had them cut the pieces out of 1/4" steel plate.  Not stainless, but after cleaning up and painting, it turned out pretty good.  I think I paid around $100 for the steel and cutting.  Also, you can see the 1" wide bar that runs horizontal and diagonal.  I drilled and tapped holes in there for studs to support my home-made fiberglass saddle bags.

TBone I am over in Bloomington,Il I would be interested in one. They could even ship both together. Has he quoted a cost?

tbone

Ghost Rider 2- Probably the best bet it to contact Daryl and have him put you on the list. Mention my name and the
thread. I think he said he was still selling them for 450.00. I e-mailed him or call  414-517-9546
contactD@xf6-custom.com    Here is the e-mail response I got from Daryl

Hi David,

I do not offer the hitch at the present. It's a great hitch, but when I sell 10 a year it is really hard to justify why.

I appreciate you asking, if I had 3 or 4 guys that wanted them I would make a small run for the Valk people.

Best Regards

PS They sold for $450 plus shipping

Grumpy,

With the two bars located where the hitch receiver goes it still fits? I also have the Hondaline bag rails on my Interstate. From looking at the picture posted above, it looks like the hitch goes right where the straight left/right piece as well as the contiured bent left/right piece that follows the lip of the rear fender.
I don't have a trailer but having a hitch would be pretty neat if they're going to get hard to come by as time goes on.

I am in the process of making a trailer hitch for my I/S.
It was mentined above about 1/4" thickness...that seems a bit overkill. What is the thickness used from some of the other manurfactures?

Thanks,

R J

HitchDoc uses at least 1/4" if maybe not thicker.

MGM currently is buried too deep in my garage to go measure it and get it correct.

Looks like 1/4 inch...
THanks for the info folks, hopefully in a month or so I'll have hitch and trailer done!

tbone

Talked with Daryl @ xf6 and he would love to make us some but he needs about 5 people that are serious and willing to call him and get on the list. He said if he could get 5 to get on board he would make those plus a few to have on the table at inane. No affiliation just wanted to help support a great vendor and get me a nice hitch.

tbone

Looks like we have some activity on a thread on the Tech board. Wanted to put this back to the top of the general. Looks like we need a couple more to call Daryl and get on the list. Getting closer. Ghost rider I sent you a pm.  Tbone
