Is there a heel toe shifter that anyone is using on the Valk?  ???
I found one on eBay but it comes "attached" to the floorboards.  Undecided

My '02 VTX1800 has the OEM large floorboards with the heel-tow shifter. Would they be interchangeable with the Valk?   Lips Sealed

Any photos? Any creative inventions?  Smiley cooldude

Paxton, the ones you are referring to are MC Enterprises... comes as a kit, and mighty pricy, and the boards are pretty.... clunky looking (no offense to any who run them).  But they are the only ones still available, and they have more room for your feet than the cobra boards, and more room between the heel and toe shifters (good for big feet).  The Kurys have been out of production forever.  Best to find a set of Rattlebars, which work great with cobra boards.  IMHO

I'm nearly certain the VTX setup won't work on a valk, look at your mount points and where the shifters are located.

Jess;
Although less expensive, these appear to be the same as the ones you showed me.  Smiley
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350510814525?item=350510814525&viewitem=&vxp=mtr

Nevertheless, I do not need floorboards, unless someone might want to trade their set up for the beautiful COBRA-Swept front boards
that I just installed...  coolsmiley

How about this shifter, could it be adapted to the Valk? Undecided

alph;
That's a beautiful piece. You are correct. I went to the KURY site and they don't list it.  Angry
I'd hope someone out there will have one for sale.  Wink

Thanks!  cooldude

I have the MC Enterprises setup as pictured.....Just a warning.....

If you have large feet, as I do, (size 13)....it is a tad awkward using this, as the space between the front and rear peg is 12 inches..  So, when not shifting, it requires me to have my foot out an an angle.

Another factor is that the shifter is very loose...(by design)....The loop can and will come of the OEM shift peg with not much effort.

Besides that, it is very nice to have.

And remember what they say about guys with big feet.............................they have big shoes!  2funny2funny

The Kickshifter is really just a heel shifter to upshift.  It uses the stock shift peg to downshift.  If you have a big foot, you still have to get your foot between the motor and the peg to downshift.  You can adjust this peg down further to give your foot more room, but that raises the heel peg higher.  I wind up riding pigeon toed when my feet are on the stock pegs around town so I can downshift.

Just a note:
The Kury heel/toe shifter for the GL1500 Goldwing is still available.
The Goldwing shifter is the same as the one that they used to market for the Valkyrie (the shift rod may be a bit longer though).
The part numbers and packaging are different, but the shifter's the same.

PAXTON

Call the "Kury Service Help Line" and/or find a shop in your area that specilizes in GWs and have a look around and ask a lot of questions.

I bought a Kury heel/toe shifter from a member several years ago and I installed it on my I/S, but I did not install/ adjust it properly as it did not come with instructions. I removed it and sold it.

I later found one at a local GW shop next to one for the Valk. The shop owner said that he had installed both on Valks and GWs. He said that the Valks with their thicker exhaust outlets were a bit harder to properly adjust due to space being at a premium in that area.

Remember that the Valk motor is derived from the GW 1500. The motors are dimensionally identical from the cylinder head down. And the shift shaft exits from the same area. (One trick that GW 1500 riders used to do was to install Valkyrie rider pegs onto their bikes thus resulting in lower and more a comfortable riding position. The Valkyrie pegs are 3/4" lower than the GW foot rests.)

Both heel/toe shifter were identical. however the shift rod might be somewhat longer. It is threaded so there is a certain amount of adjustability. But as I've said before,...ask a lot of questions!

I have one of these on each of my Valkyries (I/S, Tourer). I purchased one in 01 for my first Interstate for $83.00 from HDL.
MOMZ, I would question that there are still some available,,,good luck. I have another in the cabinet, but I will keep it for when I find a rescue bike. I really like these shifters.

Mine has been installed about 6 years, many miles. Not one single complaint or problem. It works for me cooldude

gordorad, I don't understand the loop problem? I couldn't pry mine off the peg with prybar, once properly installed?

Mine definitely has some play in it.   I called the manufacturer and the tech said it was designed that way, (as it is all integrated with the foot rest)   I did tighten it up a bit......Perhaps mine was installed incorrectly?   Perhaps in Arkansas we can compare!!  I'm sure about the size problem with big feet!!

I need to find a Rattlebars (Chet's) Kick Shifter, for my 99 Valk Interstate. Rides of even just an hour or two are leaving me with pain, at the joint where my big toe attaches to my foot. I Love this bike, but if I can't find a good quality "Heel Toe" set-up for it, she's gonna' hafta' Go!! Somebody Help Me Out Here!!

This is what was on my Tourer when I brought it home; I have no idea of the source, though. Note the large bronze bushing; a large bolt passed through it and through the top rear peg mount bolt hole, which is bored to allow the larger bolt through.

For scale, that's an old 7-1/2 shoe of mine; I kept hitting the shifter peg at the back, so took the heel-toe off, and put a stock toe shifter on.

My MC Enterprise set has been on my Valk for about 8 years now and I love it. Never had a problem at all and the loop has never come off the shifter peg. I don't think it ever will. I know I would never go back to the OEM shifter again.

Spendy, but the MCE kit for Valk (boards and shifter) is still available if you can't find a Rattlebars unit.

A few years ago, I used a different set of boots for a few rides... had the same problem.

Gave the boots to my Brother In Law.

The kind of boots that hurt me when I shift: Chinese glued-on-non-replaceable-sole boots...

The kind of boots that I've got about 80,000 comfortable Valkyrie miles on: handmade Danner boots...

They were years old when I got the Valkyrie at the end of 2006...

Here is another choice
I have a kickshifter but because I have big wide feet

So I simply took OFF the back rubber peg and just smash my heel down on the curved back piece

Detn8er saw I was "missing" that peg way back when and mailed me a peg  What a great guy
he didnt want it back    Cheesy

Using without that peg has worked for me for many years and like gman my left foot is on an angle when using the stock board which is hardly ever anyways

The only boots I have ever been comfortable in (I have 2 pair ) are no longer made
they are 11" high hochenheim greyhounds made by a company in Germany and
waterproof even in toad strangler  Got the 1st set at americade in 2002
When new I walked into lake huron on a dare and they were bone dry afterwards

My  shoemaker puts a vibram sole on them every year or so and since the 1st resole I do spray the seam with a waterproof or use a rub in waterproofer after rides in the rain
