Engine Ice Coolant...

Has anyone ever used Engine Ice coolant in their Valk?  I just got some and want to make sure I'm not going to really screw up before I put it in this weekend!  Let me know if you have any experience with this stuff.   Cheers!  Brad

Be careful of what you put in your radiator. I only put in silicate and phospate free coolant. You can damage your water pump otherwise. If I'm not mistaken, that is what the owners manual calls for.

It is getting easier to find Silicate free. I have been getting this at WalMart for years...

This stuff wasn't cheap at $20/half a gallon FYI ... It was recommended to me by a buddy who uses it in his VTX1800.  I bought it assuming it would be fine for the Valk and then decided that I should ask the experts... you guys.  Thanks for your input!

My manual says to use "ethylene glycol" or their specific brand, can I still use Engine Ice?

Typically, this is due to outdated standardization and also because many OEM's manufacture and sell an ethylene glycol based product. They want you to buy their stuff. You can use Engine Ice.

Will it harm my gaskets or seals?

No, Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant will not harm your seals and gaskets. Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant meets or exceeds all AS™ (American Society for Testing and Materials) and SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Standards and Requirements. These are industry standards in most everything mechanical and engine-based, including motorcycles and cars.

I'm using Water Wetter and anti-freeze.

I honestly don't believe it made any difference with the motor's temperature.
