Talking about helmet laws and such

None of this was around back in 1948.  Here's a pic that I took at a race near Wabash Indiana.

Spectators could plop their butts anywhere they wanted.  Good sense prevailed.  Primitive helmets for racers, no one else wore them or could afford them.

Everything changes. Always has, always will. Do we go too far sometimes to isolate ourselves from risk? Absolutely. Way too many of us think they know what's best for the rest of us. Is our quality of life better with all the safeguards, I think not, but that's just me. Please though, don't make me pay for someone else's risk taking and the consequences that come along with it.
