During my conversion project, I'm seriously running out of room under the right side cover.  My question is about the two, large round connectors down there.  One is for the CB, which I'm installing.  I've been told the other one was for an optional CD changer that never came to fruition.  In my quest for more room, it would be very helpful if I could cut off that un-used connector back near the radio.  As long as I isolate and protect the ends of the cut wires, does anyone know of any reason why I can't do this?

You are correct about the connector. But why not just push it up and out of the way, moving it to the relay area on the left-front side of the battery?

Steve K (IA)

Yea, what John say's, or how about in front of the battery?  I myself would be very hesitant to be cutting off something like that because you just never know for sure what you might want to do in the future.

I fabed a bracket that hangs below the seat lock and attached all the relays and etc to it. If I need to work on it I have left extra wire so I can remove 2 screw and pull it up and out. My cig lighter connectors are all in there too.
If I want to hook something up it is real easier for me to take off the seat than the side cover. Less likely to brake the tabs too since I rarely need to take the side cover off. Sorry - no picks.
And a caution for where ever you put the relays -- position them so the connections are down. They won't get full of water that way and short out. Don't ask!

I just pulled mine, but couldn't put them in the front because that space is already filled. However, I did find out that they'd lay on top of the battery box around the radio.

Mine are along the side of the radio. Came that way. 99 I/S ... only had 1 mile on it when I picked it up in 99...New
