Been about a year now....the Phat lady has been saving this phart up and finally let it go yesterday.  80 mph on the freeway, blissfully enjoying the cool air, not much traffic and .......there she went....total electrical (ignition) failure for a heart wrenching tenth of a second! I look for a safe exit, but its over before you know it....only thing to do is sit back and continue to enjoy the ride....it's over for probably another year. She does have her oddities...... :-\

GREAT description! Mine was doing that all last year, but only once in a while on the open road just like yours. I found one of two issues right away, the battery terminal could not be tightened up all the way, leaving the clamp a little loose because of the aftermarket battery I had purchased right before the problem started. Then, I realized all my electrical issues had started with this battery change-out (alternator failure, radio c/b and starter failure), so I spoke with an expert and he mentioned he'd seen this before, and I should go out and spend the money on an OEM battery.

Well guess what, IT WORKED!  and the bike hasn't pharted once since, and has no more issues, it has never run better. The Mechanic said he fixes many bikes this way!!! I threw away the "batteries plus" brand battery (only 8 months old), and all is well now.

Check and make sure that the red wire on the back side of your starter relay hasn't overheated at the connection point.

Had mine a year, rode 7k in that year, and it happened last weekend.  just a random stumble at 70 mph, but caught itself before the led even went out on the dash... heard the motor burp, heard a burp in radio, then back to business.

I thought it was strange, but was 300 miles from home running hard through the back country, so tried not to dwell on it!
