Ugly Black Paint

WOW, I was cleaning up my bike in the garage and since there was a bit less light than I wanted, I grabbed the 18V Dewalt and shined it at the fairing where I was cleaning.  Suddenly, a huge number of tiny speckles appeared that was not visible in sunlight or fluorescent overhead lights in the garage.

The paint in sunlight looks really good but the flashlight points out ugly stuff you would never suspect, don't know if it works the same with other colors.

If you really want to detail any car or bike get a flashlight and go over the whole surface and you may be surprised what you will find. sometimes it looks really nasty and after a little work you can clean up the problems. In a good looking paint job that you can really see down into the paint its taking out these kind of imperfections that really makes it shine, just dont get disapointed at what you see most can be cleaned up.

clay bar will pull out imperfections and clean a paint job.  I had a friend win best paint on his vette just by claybar and polishing.
Some do.
Some don't.

Kit's "Scratch Out" works very nicely on black paint.  :cooldude:

How about a black paint job that you don't shine? Just get out a little bit of Scotch Brite and clean her up!

Nothing better than my "Rat Rod Valk"

How do you get THAT finish?  Looks like HD's Denim finishes.

Momz

Just everyday base coat/clear coat, however the clear coat has a "flatner" mixed in to give it a satin finish. When fully cured you can use grey Scotchbrite to dull it down a bit, and it minimizes scratches.
