Anyone care to share their experience or thoughts on this accessory?

I have a friend who had one on his 1800 Goldwing.  When he took it off after 4000 miles, and saw the damage the grit that had done that got under it, he threw it out....

Great for keeping bug and bird guts off the fairing, but dust/dirt make their way under it and put fine scratches in the clearcoat. Needs to be removed for rain too.

I have found that if you run one you should put
a good coat of wax on the fairing first.
Then when removed clean the inside of it
good.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll just go out and polish my chrome instead.

I have one I put on for long road trips only when I know there will be heavy vehicles throwing rocks at me. As Shortleg says, plenty of wax before you put it on and keep the underside clean. Hasn't marked my fairing at all, but I do have stone chips in the screen.

I've used one for a few years now, but I usually only put it on when I'm headed for a trip where I expect lots of bugs, dirt, etc. I haven't had any problem with it scratching my fairing, but like I said, I don't keep it on 24/7.

I'll second this, and relate my frustration as to what a tank bib did to the tank on Blondie's relatively new 2003 Standard which we bought last June. The original owner had ridden the bike infrequently over the course of its life, but there was still enough scratching of the clear coat due to the bib that I thought it would need re-sprayed. Managed to get it out, 3-M's "Perfect-It" Glaze is a lifesaver.

if you're getting rid of a good one...let me know.

I think bras will scratch anything they're on so it comes down to the looks. If you like the looks and function of a bra or bibb, use it forever and at $70, leave it on all the time and you won't see the scratches.

To protect the paint, you could use those ultra thin clear plastic film, which is used on the front of cars as a protection against bugs, rocks, etc.

It´s adhesive, and applied under the bra, the bra would not scratch the paint.
