I have had Cobras for over two years (came with bike) and switched out to a set of OEMs today that I picked up several months ago.  I had gaskets and a good thing because the others were really smashed down and I bent several taking them out to check them.

Like the Cobras but wanting to try the OEMs for a while.  Anyone with strong preferences for either?? or any others??

I miss the sound of the ones on my 97 that I sold. I don't know what mod was done, but I liked them. Ones on my current 97 are stock and I often think I want the cobras or figure out what was done to the others that had the growl like they did. Have pics of the inside to help when I research it. Ride what makes you happy.  :cooldude:

I've heard just about all and think stock sound the best in my opinion.

Would like to hear what the supertrapp's sound like.

Where is all your "stuff"? Tools, boxes of parts, tools, equipment, buffers, grinders, benches, Stuff... Man I wish I had a garage like that. But I'd just clutter it up with stuff.  ;)

I've had a love/hate relationship with my exhaust.

OEM stock exhaust when I bought it.....too quiet....had no character.

Cut the piggies.....not any louder, but a little more mellow-er, but the drone started.

Figured I'd go more and drilled the rear baffles......nice tone    ;)  but droned    :(

Figured WTH and go for even more and did the Ragnar cut.  Talk about mean sounding.   :cooldude:  but the drone was a killer.   >:(

Read a thread by chillerman about a set of silencers he'd found.  These.....

http://www.hardin-marine.com/p-12622-4-slip-in-silencer.aspx

Bought some new extensions and added a set of Grumpy's tips.  Then added the silencers that chillerman recommended.........PERFECTION.  Drone gone!!!!!!  Now it's got a very sweet growl to it....not too loud...not too quiet.   Just right.   :cooldude:

I love my exhaust now......finally.
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

A neat and clean garage ??!!  Boy,, that just ain't right !!   ;D

IMHO nothing beats the sound of Cobras. My Vikings with baffles removed come in second though  :cooldude:

Did you notice any difference in performance or gas mileage between the Cobras and the OEM?
There was a rumor the Corbras, although great sounding robbed a little power.

Taking a trip to Northern Ca in a few weeks and coming back through Yosemite Valley then over Tioga Pass and down 395 back to SoCal so will have a good chance to see what i think.  After changing them out today I just started and let it run for a while. definitely a different sound.

I'd like to have 2 valks.  One I/S OEM exhaust nice and quiet like I have.  The 2nd a standard or tourer with cobras to rev the snot out of shorter trips when the HD boyz show up.

I have Cobras on my 97 Valk and OEM exhaust on the 98. Like them both but enjoy some "peace and quiete" once in awhile, particularly on longer rides.

I guess I will chime in about another exhaust system.  There are times when it is nice to have a quieter system.
There are times when it would be nice to have a little more rumble or roar.
The system I have can be whatever I like for the moment.  I have Mark T's with 'trombones' and silencers.  In a flash, I can add the silencers (growl!) remove the silencers (rumble!) or put in the trombones, a.k.a. straight pipes (roar!).  :cooldude:
3 distinct sounds, simple to change, and Mark is a sponsor to the vrcc site to boot.  Personally, I like to have options!  :cooldude:  :cooldude:  :cooldude:

Went out for about a 75 mi ride with the "new" exhaust.  About 30 mile down freeway about 85 mph then back roads home.   Did a quick run up to triple digits.  what a difference.  :o  definitely quieter.  I always use earplugs so at first accelerating hard onto freeway i'm wondering where is my motorcycle.  No ROARING from the Cobras, but was hearing things I didn't hear before.

will try these stockers for a few months and a few trips and see what I think.  The great thing is I can just put on whatever exhaust I like. May check out the Mark T's sometime.

+2 on the Pass  (is that also called 120?)

Rode it on a (long) day trip from lake Tahoe but in a car

Cant wait till the day I can ride it on my Valkyrie

If I had any idea how to do it I would look at MarkT's with the crossover

Yep, 120.  been over it many times but only a few on motorcycle.  Love Yosemite, must have been there 50 times during all seasons.  Hiking on all the trails there, Glacier Point, Toulumne Meadows, Half Dome, Vernal Falls.  All spectacular.
