Rebuild rear caliper-rebuild kit

So I think I need to rebuild the rear caliper on my Interstate. Is there a rebuild kit, or do I just order the parts (seals and pistons)?

Unless you know you need pistons, they can get
pretty manky looking and still clean up good.

I just order the OEM parts (seals) ...

I did this this winter January-feburary i think. When you get the pistons(2)out of the bores take some Scotch Brite or something similar and clean up the pistons and the bores. DO NOT use sand paper. You just want to clean the crud and mung off the surfaces-NOT make the bores larger or the pistons smaller. I also replaced that short flexible hose from the steel brake line on the swingarm to the caliper along with NEW crush washers. Can't recollect where i read this but someone here had mentioned about that short flex line delaminating on the inside and creating a check valve. Your right there anyway and that short flex hose aint that spendy. Hope some of this is of help to you. RIDE SAFE.

There also is a short flex hose from the master cylinder to the solid brake line.

I dont think so....I think all you can do with the wheel on is change out the pads.........tough to get the caliper off the plate while the wheel is on, but maybe someone knows a trick

Pull the axle and take off the caliper mounting bracket.

You just need to get the axle back far enough to remove the spacer and then remove the bracket pin and slide the bracket out, away from the hub.  It will work out easily.

Just to be safe (or maybe it is only fear and superstition ) ANY time I release torque from the axel nut I always loosen the four bolts from the drive housing and re torque them after reinstalling and tightening the axel nut.

I remove just the caliper from the bracket to clean pistons on my I/S, 2 bolts and it's out. The caliper pin bolt is a little tricky but not to bad and the bracket pin bolt is a piece of cake.
