Brake dust on the clutch side of front rim

I've noticed over the past few weeks and when arriving home from Inzane that the left side of the front rim (clutch side) has a nice layer of brake dust on it but the right side is clean.

Do I have something off somewhere in regards to the axle?  I did put on a front tire about a month or so ago and did make sure that the left side of the axle was flush with forks.  Maybe it's not flush enough?

Any thoughts and help would definitely be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There was a coating of blackish stuff on the clutch side of my front
rim that was hard to clean off... I believe now that it was fork
oil, flung off little bit by little bit for a week or so back when I
thought my fork oil leak was just a "ring around the slider"...

Thanks for the info Mike.  In my case it's defintely brake dust as I can wipe it right of with my finger or a rag of some kind.  My concern was that the left brake pads would be wearing more than the right and was possibly caused the axle not being set correctly.

There isn't a drag of any kind on the caliper bolts but just excessive black dust.

I'll keep an eye out for any kind of other black stuff that looks like fork oil though in the future.
