Where's the best place to mount this?

The indicator LED that is. I thought about drilling a hole in the cap plate in the center of the handlebars but it's kinda thick and the hole would probably way out last the i8ndicator. Dunno about drilling a hole in the headlight. It would be nice if I could mount it in the tack or speedo but I don't see that happening.

What about sealing it up (leaving the LED visible) in something like this and then clamping it beside the riser clamp or somewhere else highly visible?  That way if the module croaks, you just unscrew it from wherever it is and there's no hole left behind.  You could epoxy or RTV the LED into the 5/16" hole in the mount, maybe even find a nice chrome ring to fill the gap.

I put a light to indicate boost in the bar clamp once upon a time. It's not that thick.

No problem.  Those handlebar clamps are pretty handy when you need a hole somewhere and don't want to make a new one. 

I've used them for speaker mounts on the Shadow before, and one of them is holding my iPod cradle on the Valk now.

I mounted mine in the panel just right of the tach. Just drilled a hole in the side of the tach bezel so light is not facing straight at you but still very visible while riding.

  Yes.  The little light is VERY BRIGHT.   

So, plan ahead.  At night it can be extremely distracting.

LOL, story of my life, a day late and a dollar short.

The handlebar plate on mine is .77 inches thick. It would take some drilling to get through it as it's solid. I do have a drill press but it won't undrill holes so I guess the ring is better.
