The rolling highway was his freedom
the wind gave him wings to fly
there was no greater place on earth for
him than to soar beneath the clear blue skies

Mother nature all around him
and father time upon his heels
he'd give anything for a pair of wings and two wheels

Life's roads could take him anywhere
so he traveled them  one by one
and though his time on earth is over
his greatest journey has just begun

Above the clouds and through the gates
   once on the other side
he'll meet those gone before him
and together they will ride .

A fitting Benediction to a life well spent. He was indeed the person you described so eloquently and eligantly. Thanks for this most appropriate sentiment...

Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Thumper it is tragic when a life is cut short. It's clear by the post on this board that he was a well respected man and friend to all. Words do little to help the hurt and lose of a loved one. My prayers are with his family and hold on to the memories until we all meet again.

@Wolf, I hope you do not mind me sort of hijacking your thread a bit but your title fit because I am thinking of Thumper, and if I offend, I will try to open a new thread.

I was just thinking this morning of the first day the wife and I met Thumper, and seeing as there are already several post in memory of Paul, I thought better of it to start another thread, and was hoping that this would be an ok place to post one of my fondest memories. And maybe get some of you to share your funny stories you have.

As I said before I was thinking of the very first time I met Paul, it was at one of Joe's rides several years back, it was after the days ride and we were all hanging out talking, telling lies, and enjoying the occasional beverage. Paul was wearing a T-shirt that depicted a Beaver on it with a saying, I cannot remember what it said, but my Wife (as many of you know German, with the occasional problem with the American slang terminology) could not understand the reference to the Beaver and asked Paul what his T-shirt meant. I sat with a huge grin in my face I watched Paul trying to delicately as possible  :-[ explain the reference to the Beaver and my wife not understanding the meaning right away and the tow of them having this very interesting discussion as to what it meant. After Paul every which way to Sunday tried to explain the shirt without being direct the light went on in my wifes head and she was a bit embarrased as was Paul for a second and then they laughed about it until both were red in the face.
Not sure its as funny as it was at the time, but I thought I would share one of those fond memories.
