Hey anyone in MD, VA, and DC

While I'm in MD I thought maybe some of you like to have me to work on your Valkyrie at your place.
I also have some stuff with me like quad horns etc.. I also have carb sync with me. I can do valve adjust or de-smog or whatever I can do without lift the bike.

I worked on Peter S valk last Friday in DC doing the de-smog, valve adjust, replaced o-rings for intake tubes, tune up, petcock vacuum kit, carb sync and some minor repairs. I enjoy to work on his Valkyrie.

Kind of wrong route.   Thanks for asking... Also my dad will need ride back home in Tulsa Oklahoma. We will be going on I-70 to Huber Heught Ohio (near Murdoc) to see my cousins then on way down to Tulsa on I-44 then I go home on I-40 to Arizona.

Folks, I am here to tell you the Big BF (Bill Ferguson) is the genuine article, the right stuff, a master Valkyrie mechanic, and a good man.  I suppose many of you know this already, but for those who have not had the pleasure, it is my purpose here to praise him to the Valkyrie world.  

He just spent three full days tearing my two big motorcycles down into small parts and rebuilding them into like-new running machines, in my back yard driveway under my jury-rigged sunshade.   For those that don't know, Bill is deaf and does not speak, we communicated by the written word; three days for this verbose retired shyster with no conversation, was just fine.  

I am a shade tree novice mechanic who manages to do most required periodic maintenance without screwing up anything important, but am reluctant to attempt work beyond my skill level.  I did tear a rear end off and fix a trashed Ujoint, and apparently serviced the rear in good fashion, since my splines and drive were in good condition after another 20K miles on a car tire.  I too have had mixed results from dealer techs who charged large and did minimum work, replacing parts only.  Bill doesn't work that way, each and every piece of work he does get meticulous attention, and is not finished until it is perfect.  

Bill methodically tore down my machines, removing everything that gets in the way, throwing all nuts, bolts and parts in a common dish (gasp), and did two complete desmogs (droping 5 lbs off each bike), changing every singe intake Oring tiny and large, valve adjustment, carb synch, RR two tires, service rear, front brakes on one bike (with ghastly corrosion repair with my bore solvents and gun brushes), plugs, horn, and a number of other small projects.  Anything that was not right was made right.

I thought my OE petcocks were fine; they weren't.  Neither would hold a vacuum (he showed me on a mysterious machine), and he rebuilt both, one with my kit and one with his.  Though I had paid for a valve adjustment on each bike years ago, he showed me one set of valve covers with original gasket work that had likely never been off the bike... the other had, but both needed work.  He pointed out missing hardware, nuts and bolts on both bikes. He showed me where my shifter seal was leaking (never a drop on the ground, but a new seal is on order). I ran to various dealers for parts in stock and NAPA for the rest.  I served as gofer, surgical nurse, and cook, he was the surgeon.  

I learned that his dad served at Incerlik AB Turkey many years before I did, and that his mom was born some miles down the road from mine.  I learned that Bill doesn't like working for others and is purely self employed in a number of fields, motorcycles being only one.

He insisted that I test ride each bike when done.  My big IS with only 45K has always run great, it runs better.  My supervalk has always knocked/rattled (at times), a fact I attributed to a 4* wheel .... the transformation is just remarkable, the bike has never run this well for the 45K miles I've had it (70K). 

Bill departed my home to see his brother at Johns Hopkins Hospital where he is contributing everything he can make to his brothers treatment.  I am without further words.

Thanks for offer hummm there's two valk are major work one need rebuilt carb and many to work on also orher one maybe need replace clutch basket and several more to work on.. It's pretty far down to your place. My brother's apt is in Silver Springs MD. Shortleg is closer to JHH that way I can get to see him before I go to apt. If shortleg does not have garage or whatever that is then I might as well come to your place and hope you got room and shower for me to stay for few days?

Yup the clutch plate with rivets is no good. Will wait for your parts to come in soon while I do the rest of works. I believe it was worth your long trip down to Shortleg (Dave) place.

Just wanted to let everyone know about Big Bill !!!! What a truely amazing and talented man. He is Visiting his brother on the East Coast while he is in the hospital ( Prayers and Best wishes will always be with him) and has been working on Valks on the East Coast. He got to my House Tuesday night and set everything up to start breaking down my " Death Horse ". I knew my bike had some problems but didnt realize how many of the little things that were wrong. He cleaned and  rebuilt my carbs with a Factory Pro Jet Kit ( 110 Mains & 38 Slow Jets ) , New Needles, Redeye O-ring Kit with a Valve adjust and Carb Sync. His attention to detail for everything on my bike was just Fantastic. He treated my bike like it was one of his very own.  He had his quad horn kit and 6 inch risers with him along with some other hardware that i needed. I got those installed and  whatever else I neede he would run to the hardware store and get what was needed to make everything look great on the bike. He even swept my garage after he put away all his tools. After taking the bike out for a test ride and then even for a longer Night ride the " Beast of the East " has the power and rides so much smoother. Now I cant wait to see what great gas mileage I get. Thank you my friend for everything you have done. You are truely a great friend and you are always welcome here at my house anytime. Meeting you has been an honor and if you ever need anything at all please let me know. Anyone who meets Bill will walk away from him a better person. Thank you my friend for making my Bike and my life that so much greater. Spending 3 Days with you will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your brother and hope that everyone rides safe always
