Is there a "must do" route from Nashville to Birmingham? We have about 5 hours for the ride, maybe a little more.

straight up 65...

Take hwy 67 SE (first exit after crossing the Tennessee River near Huntsville) to hwy 231 follow it over to Ashville there you can take I-59 or hwy 411 down to Birmingham. Much better route unless you are in a hurry.
