Why I like Indiana ,Gun related in a nice way.

Flat it is but the people make up for it.

Today, I took my next door lady to the gun shop.  She decided on her own that living single she needed an equalizer.  I have taught her basic gun safety and have recently watched her shoot a .22.

She has never personally owned a firearm but her brothers did so she was aware of the safety and responsibility of owning one.

She accepted my advice on a 'house' gun, a .38 special revolver.  Adequate to do the job and not intimidating for the inexperienced.  She was shaking she was so nervous.  She bought a  new Charter Arms .38 Special +P stainless 5 shot, exposed hammer, snubbie'   For her, the right gun and within her limited budget. She has an older High Standard 9 shot.22 revolver that her brother just gave her, suitable for practice.

Any way, as she was filling out the necessary paperwork, a young man came up to her, identified himself as a off duty police officer, and gave her 5 rounds of the famous but politically incorrect 'Black Talons'  .  We had a nice conversation with him.  She later told me that all her doubts were removed by the officer's offer.

I can just see this not happening in our neighboring state, Illinois.

Just though I'd mention this.

I looked at Charter for Kit and didnt know they came in a +P.

Brian, Charter Arms says that the Undercover will shoot +P but doesn't believe that the small additional power is worth it.

Her's is a very nice looking stainless steel.   She didn't go for the pink or raspberry.  The gunshop had both colors.

Great job. That is the best gun for a woman to keep. I always advise on a 38 revolver for the first gun. I will go bang or they will get another chance. Just keep pulling.

Come on now; I have a Colt Detective Spec. 38 Sp GTG. that I keep in bed side. I think this will stop most bulls / bears that want to invade my space.

Just FYI, that snubbie will bark a little, not really a newbie gun, 4 in bbl would have been a bit better.

However, sinnce she has it, go get her some Winchester white box, or Rem green and white box 125 gr 38spl's and let her run those before you let her cut loose with the 158gr.

Kits snubby dont kick that bad and its a ultra light. My 380 kicks alot more then that. Hers is dead accurate at 21'. We practice with WWB and she uses Hornady defesne loads to carry.

Was Kit "shaking she was so nervous"?  and had she fired a revolver before?

This lady is a newbie, if she gets afraid of it, she won't shoot, if she doesnt shoot, she won't know what she is doing.

A 125gr hp isnt a slouch anyway. If thats what she ends up carrying, she is good to go.
