Clutch problems

Came home from the Meet in the Middle ride with Smokin' Joe and the crew.

The clutch lever does not come all the way in.  Found out the damper sheered rivots.

Was looking online and found friction plates made by EBC.  Wondering if anyone has used them?  Also do I have to replace the steel plates as well?  Since I dont want to come back in, I want to make sure I do it right the first time.

I may also have to replace the basket.  Looking for info on that as well.   How scored does it have to be to have to be replaced?  Gouged? slightly roughed?

Glad you made it home alright Robert,as long as the grooves are not messed up so bad as to put the clutch plates in a bind you should be ok.

I used all the good advice everyone gave me and I made it home just fine.
Just have to crack the block and start tearing the bike down to make the repairs.

It dont look like it is too much of a job.

Enjoyed the ride.  Hope to share some more wind with you sometime.

I recently had the same problem of the lever not coming all the way back to the grip.  Lucky for me BigBF was close by in Baltimore (Im in NJ).  He took out the clutch while I waited and we found out that rivits came loose from one of the discs.  Only one other disc was damaged from the loose rivits.  All in all I was very lucky.  Parts fromn my local dealer I get parts from in a hurry were not too much.  Bill did a great job pulling that clutch without removing the motor.  He is a wiz on Valkyries.  Not to get off the topic, I had him do more work while waiting on parts.  He did a great job.
