It was a VERY last minute thing, but I called our Insurance agent this morning......and she was able to cut my motorcycle insurance quote by more than half.....went from $330 with Prog down to $158 with Foremost .........for the exact same coverage......I have UIM, collision, comprehensive($250 ded's) and the new quote allows for $3,500 in extras compared to $3,000 with Prog.........

I just hope I never have to make a claim....... :cooldude:

Just an FYI. Some ins companies will have a lower because they don't include medical for the rider. Just be sure progressive wasn't including that and foremost wasn't. I have progressive for $265 a year but it has some medical for me the rider.

There's a thing in South Carolina where if you discontinue your car insurance,
the old insurer is required to notify the highway department. But there's no
corresponding requirement for the new insurance company to inform the
highway department that you have insurance with them... I ended up falling
through the cracks on that one and drove with a revoked license for a month
or two. I found out about it when I got stopped in the middle of nowhere at
11:30pm going 43 in a 35...

GA has the electronic stuff where we don't "need" to have a card.......but I have them anyways for out of State riding and I am going to make sure my Agent answers this for me.... :cooldude:

I read my Agent the #'s and quote from Prog....line by line, and she says it's the same coverage.......I plan on taking the Prog paperwork with me to double check...... :cooldude:

I had my new card with me, but the police couldn't get any farther than Revoked Licence.
I got to ride handcuffed in the back of the police car that night...

The Mini was almost brand new. I hated seeing it get towed off into the darkness,
along with my guitar and amp. Got the Mini in 2005. They made drug dogs sniff
my car and everything... but they were real professional, and when we got
back to the station and had my license and insurance cards out on the table
(me still handcuffed and all) they correlated my revocation date with the
issue-date on my insurance card and they figured out what was going on.
They freed me, fetched me back to the car and didn't give me a speeding
ticket...

Did you get an apology once things had been cleared up??......naw, probably not......

I've had a class B CDL with an air brake endorsement since 1996 when I started working for the County...........when I added my motorcycle license in Oct. of 2002, I didn't look at my new license and they had taken off my air brake endorsement......much to my dismay.... :o :o........WTH??.....I took off from work to take it to the local DMV.....cost me 2-3 hrs of my vacation time......"Nope, we don't have it here on the magic pc's....you took the test in Gainesville.....go check with them"......OK, now I wasn't really happy about that, but I took another half day off to go sit and wait a LONG time to finally get my turn in line only to be told the same thing....."It shows here that you don't have the air brake endorsement".....I did get a key piece of info though....I was told they'd had a new computer system installed just before my renewal......it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it probably happened during the transition......

Plan B.......I wrote a very eloquent letter to the head of the DMV and sent a photocopy of the OLD license WITH the air brake endorsement clearly pictured on it....(Our secretary photo copies each license....thankfully!!).....our Landscape Mngr also included a letter with mine on County paper stock saying that I DID in fact have a CDL with air brakes included and that we suspected that the new pc system was the culprit.....and that I had already spent considerable time and $$ on my part trying to rectify their error.....

within 2 weeks, I had a letter back from his office apologizing for their mistake and that I can hand the letter to anyone at a DMV office in GA and they would issue me the new, correct license.....and NOT to wait in line, but go to the head of the line....... :cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude:........it felt good to see the look on their faces at the local DMV.......they even showed the letter around to others in the office there.....guess they hadn't seen a letter like that before......I'm sure I pissed some folks off that had been waiting in line....... :D :D

Can never be too safe. My dad had Farm Bureau of TN for everything (house, cars and bikes) all FULL  coverage. Had a spill on the BRP and they say you have full coverage but we NEVER put medical on our bike coverages (actually NOT even available thru them) He has to eat the costs himself. I don't trust insurance companies to dot the i's OR cross the t's. Just didn't want you to get a surprise down the road.  :cooldude:

I took my Prog paperwork with me......I didn't have medical on it.....I guess because I have good insurance through my job......my Agent included $1,000 of medical on the quote she gave me($8).....and the exact same coverage as Prog. except the new company allows $500 more on additional  equipment......so, the bill went from $359....$330 if I paid in full.....to $158 for a year.....that is fine with me!!!........... :cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude:

Still, the indignity of being arrested would probably be exacerbated if one was forced to have one's
handcuffs put on while wearing a studded leather thong...  :coolsmiley:
