Been staying in both River Oaks Inn and  Bandera Lodge and they're both pretty much OK. Nothing fancy ( except perhaps a couple of pretty sweet murals at River Oaks ) but nothing to complain about neither. Both conveniently located within staggering distance from downtown 

Oh and once there do yourself a favor and try a pizza at The Grotto. A quirky little place  behind the carwash off Sycamore street / 173. Not a fast food place but  something real different you would not expect to find in Cowboy Country
