Left the house outside Asheville this am, to meet a riding buddy (Gold Winger) in Sylva, NC.

Temps in the high 40's and patchy fog, ick!

Hooked up with my friend, cruised by WCU Catamont campus on NC 107, a nice road not too curvy.

Got on NC 281 at it's juncture with 107, a little traveled beautiful road.

Wound up back in Sylva for a good lunch at the "Coffee House" home cooking and great service.

As I headed back towards Leicester, NC ,I jumped on the BRP in the Balsam area.

No gas available for the next 50 miles, but I was good to go.

It was a weather day from the Gods, clear blue sky, temps in the low to mid 60's.

Not too many leaf peepers today, watch out tomorrow for the weekenders.

Met the nicest people on a Honda , Gold Wing, who took the below picture.

Lots of nice folks wherever you pulled off on a overlook. One old fellow (relatively speaking) said "What a great way to tour the parkway". Couldn't agree more.
Had the tunes on playing great rock and roll, it just don't get much  better then today.

Mr Whiskey

Amen my Brother!
Shor' been a beautiful day!!
Couldn't ride today ('cept home from work) but sure wanted to. Glad to see someone got a good run in.
Gonna be up that way next weekend with the "leaf peepers" for an early FCR outta Maggie. Thinkin' Devils Courthouse & Graveyard Fields. Hope it's not past peak that high.
Drive fast my Brother, & be careless!
Peace, Whiskey.

Whiskey

I think your timing for optimal color will be right on target, try to avoid the weekend days if you can.

When you hit the Devils Courthouse, take the steep hike up to the overlook if possible, the views should be fantastic.

Be safe

Bill

That's one of my favorite areas  :cooldude: ... the first time I took the Valkyrie
down 281, it wasn't paved all the way. Later I went back and it was paved, I made
a kind of loop from 281, 215, Joe House Road, Explorer Road (not really called that),
Tilley Creek Road and Walnut Creek/Pine Creek Road...
