Malala Yousafzai is a 14 year old female Pakistani peace activist who has won a prize for her writings about family life where she lives in Pakistan. This pissed off the local taliban because she adopted"western ways"and the taliban issued a kill order for her. Complete story on my M S N home page but i lack the knowledge to post a link. Issue a kill order on a 14 year old girl because she spoke the truth. And they want to bring their brand of"justice"here??? RIGHT. RIDE SAFE.

I spent 5 years in the middle east and I learned something that our government still doesn't seem to understand. 

When you and I make decisions they are usually based on facts or our knowledge of a situation.  When an Arab makes a decision it's usually based on emotions.  So it's really easy to get them stirred up, and once you get them started their emotions start feeding off of the situation and before you know it you have a bunch of half crazed idiots with weapons ready to kill for Allah, or their family honor, or the insult to their religion. 

When you add ignorance and stupidity to automatic weapons bad things usually happen.

Part of what disturbs me about this one in many instances is the very fact that i work with teenagers. I'm an adult volunteer for our high school marching band. I work with these kids a couple days a week and i drive a support vehicle when we go to competitions. While i don't agree with some of their thoughts they have a right to have them. How can anybody qualify a hit on a 14 year old girl or boy or their family?? This is so freaking WRONG on so many levels that my mind just can't even begin to see any sense in this at all. Does the fact i was brought up here in the U S of A and taught to look out for those that can't look out for themselves have something to do with the fact of how appalled i am about this?? GOD forgive me but after reading about this there are some"people"on this planet that need to be stamped out like bugs. Oh wait-i fergot to rekemember-they be a"peaceful"religion. RIDE SAFE.

But When I see a statement like the one above, I cringe. Islam does not = the Taliban.
Making that connection is like me saying Everything I need to know about Christianity, I learned from Hitler. It just doesn't work that way.

I'm not a Muslim, nor am I a sympathizer. I just can't stand to see hate propagated like this.
The people who did this may claim to be Muslim, they are not. Hitler claimed to Christian.
I have met Muslim people, like the 14yr old, who fight to make change within their faith.

I've worked around alot of military guys at the local army base , in the last 11 yrs. One thing most have said is that all the muslim dominant countries are very poor and very uneducated ,very religious and shrouded in religious doctrine . They really don't know anything else other than what they've been taught their whole lives about the Islamic faith . The women are especially held back in the religious values and everything is backwards as hell . The Taliban use fear and intimidation as power over the weaker local people . Its very tragic , there is no excuse .

What it all boils down to is the fact that NO ONE including the good old US of A cannot change 1,000 of years of taliban/muslim ways of thinking.  We shouldn't have gone over there in the first place to help out and get our soldiers killed since NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE will change that country simply due to the fact they are set in their ways NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY.

Update-they performed emergency surgery after her brain started to swell. She is now in critical condition. There is a plane standing by if more surgery is needed. If needed the will fly her to the U A E. My prayers go out to this young lady in her hour of need.

Sorry if I offended you. I was just asking what you meant by your comment.

In Canada, at the Federal level, a vote was had only a few weeks back to determine when a fetus is a life that must be protected. In the US, I heard Romney's running mate put his position out there very clearly, not pro-choice. So yes, the supreme court has decided, in both our countries.
Do I think we can let down the guard? No, not for moment.

But the real question is: Does a Woman have the right to choose? 
I too would hope her community and her friends and family could support her in making a different decision. But I believe it is her body, her decision. Not anyone else's.
