my buddy went to Bonneville salt flats last week

to help his buddy who was runnin a triumph TR6 w a twin turboed 360 cu.in V8.. a full bodied car with of course an extended wheelbase.. about 18 ft. long I believe.. anyway. GET THIS the former recaord was 241 mph.. take a guess at what it is NOW.. are ya ready???  382 m per frickin h.. he is comin back next year to break 400 mph.. that USUALLY done by only rocket like cars.. WOOP  WOOP

Ford is getting over 600 HP out of a V8 that is a single supercharger, street worthy. Your buddies TR6 don't have to be able to sit a a stop-lite and idle, or meet emissions.  I am sure that engine is very exotic and makes plenty of HP. Count me among the believers!!

Twin turbo's can make real serious hp and have no doubt that horsepower was not an issue. Anything over 300 mph has many more issues to deal with, hp being the least of them. Had to be some serious engineering on that rig and I tip my hat to anyone who can go that fast in a piston driven powerplant. I do doubt that there was very much left of an original TR6 on that ride.

ok.. I dont know how to post links but google black salt racing and read the oct 6 2012 link.. by the way the team was named balck salt because a couple years ago he rolled a car at over 300mph.. it was an open cockpit car and when my buddy who is a tech guy at bonneville got to him the car was on fire.. all the 2 tech guys had were chemical fire extinguishers.. they pretty much got the fire out.. then 3 more guys got there and they were able to turn the car over and get him out.. it left a big black mark on the salt and the name was born.. he also suffered  severe respritory problems for a couple years but.. HE'S BAAAAACK

We have a little gathering of car enthusists here in Aus called the Summer Nats, there are so called street registered vehicles fitted with 350-400 turbo cubes that make over 1000 Hp  ( at the wheels that is)
A full on competion vehicle will make that with out much trouble
Geez even diesels of that displacement get around those figures

My buddy has a twin turbo'd sb chevy in an old gremlin he's been in hot rod mag acouple of times.It's pushing 1100 hp at the wheels and just went over 207mph with out much in the way of aerodynamic help.A good twin turbo set makes incredible amounts of hp.$peed co$t$ a lotta money $on,how fa$t do want to go?

FWD as in everything from the firewall forward is not a Triumph GT6 and the GT6 rear is just dragged along by all that power and aerodynamics up front.

380 on one pass, that's pretty darn fast.

Well now.....the rear side window is a dead give away, if you had said GT6 I would have recognized it right away and would have been no doubt at all about the speed!!!!!!!   Chuckle, just kidding, I was not thinking all that it might be  heavily modified ......I could just see a TR6 convertible headed down the salt with a neck scarf flying in the wind and a big bug coming along!!!! Ker-splat!

The green car is a GT6, probably 71-73, but I'm no expert.  I just did Google image searches of TR6 and GT6 and all TR6's were convertibles, some with removable hardtops, while all GT6's were fastback hardtops like the green one.

I have heard they have heavily modified wheel chair races there.....those suckers hit 3.2 mph and leave all kinds of rubber.....and they require seat belts....
