We got a small group leaving Clinton,TN friday morning and we plan on takin' the scenic route . If you get that wonderful feel for some wind before friday come on up thursday and ride with us. It's kinda like you would be going around your elbow to get to your thumb in doing so but what the hell you're DDT with 400,000 plus miles on your Valkyrie what's a few more   :cooldude:

Just let me say to everyone, come on in to Central Tennessee,(Joe, not West Tn  ;D) Lots of nice places here, hills, winding roads, rivers, good eatin and all that. I am really looking forward to this one since it is near my home. Anyone wanting to come by my place is welcome.    Like Joe said, the weather looks like it will be beautiful. Just please be careful out there on the road as you make your way to paradise.  Mac will have a great route planned out for us all. It will be good to see everyone again. Ride safe :cooldude:

DDT (12)

Hey Joe,

Man, you should have learned by now to be careful of what you ask for...! I ran that notion of taking a long-cut through Clinton by my ridin' bud, and he claimed to be game for it... So, he's waiting on a part for his scooter, and if it arrives in time for him to have the work completed, then Clinton will be in our crosshairs for Thursday evening... Otherwise we'll just see y'all Friday evening at the ground zero extravaganza and election-end celebration. (Do you know if Crazyhorse has arranged for any jolly gals to meet us there, or should we bring our own?)

Hey Joe,

Well, I just got off the phone with my riding bud, and he proudly informed me that his part DID come in. He then proceeded to further inform me that the weather forecast calls for temperatures well below his toleration level, so he won't be going after all. So, that means I'll figure to ride on up to Clinton on Thursday all by my lonesome...

I'll be staying at the Haji Hilton where we've stayed a couple of times before... Any others plan to be there like maybe Hal? In any event, would you and Gordon and/or others be up for a steak and a couple of brewskis that evening? It couldn't hurt to do a bit of practice sippin' before the main event the following two evenings, ya know...

Now with the election over.  Back to a better topic.  I have the other half packed, and Gary keeps saying " Is it Friday yet?"
So I do believe he is more than ready for this ride. I know he really enjoyed it last year.

Joe & Mac,

First, I need to ask y'all to work with me here... I ain't no politician, so puttin' a positive spin on a negative event is hard in the extreme for me. OK, like most folks, throughout my life I've had my wishes fulfilled many times by my NOT getting what I thought I wanted. Still with me?

Well, a peculiar but not unheard of thing has cropped-up, so I'm gonna have to miss all the festivities this weekend afterall. Who knows, maybe by me not riding all that way I may be avoiding a far worse calamity, so perhaps I'm better off having things go this way. I doubt it, but hey, I am trying to put this in a positive light, right?

It all started Tuesday evening, as far as I know. See, after voting that afternoon I swung by the local Huddle House fer some grits 'n eggs. I was feelin' Ok with the world right about then (election results hadn't begun to come in yet), so I called my ridin' bud up to see if he'd be interested in a brew or ten at the VFW. He was, so we met up shortly after that.

I first became conscious of my upcoming dilemma while perched upon a bar stool studying various specimens of Redneckus Alabamus. A curious lot for sure, but not strictly germain to my point here. Anyway, just before Jim joined me, I detected an increasing and unusual drizzle of moisture from my nostrils. My first thought was that I perhaps had some sort of allergy to politics. Not bothersome yet, but dangerous to be sure. See, our local gals for some reason are not attracted to older guys with glistening mustaches.

My newly acquired condition continued throughout the evening, and serious misgivings about its implications already were creeping into my thinker muscle... By midnight that drizzle had turned into an out 'n out gusher! Yep, I drained more fluid that night out of my sinuses than my bladder... OH NO!!!

All day Wednesday the flow continued. I finally took a pill last night just so I could get a good night's sleep. This morning, while there had been a small improvement, my problem was still very much manifest. I fascilated back and forth about going ahead with my ride plans anyway, but just when I'd put my finger on the trigger to make that move, a window-rattling sneeze would issue forth from deep within me, and the notion of riding would immediately be replaced by thoughts of grabbing yet another tissue to stem the tide of... you know.

I have ridden in worse shape and in colder temps than what I'd likely encounter on this adventure, but... there is the complication of me being a bit older than I was back then. Naturally my folly-resilence ain't no where near what it once was, so doing so now could have dire consequences. I used to tough out stuff like this right up until I landed in the hospital with pneumonia nearly two years ago. Since then I've become much more circumspect... if ya get my drift here.

So, while I'd love to be taggin' along with y'all this weekend, my logical self is telling me 'don't do it!' I reckon I'm gonna have to listen to that inner voice this time. Who knows, by being smart, I may live to a ripe old age and have many, many memories of other missed rides too... Huh?
