Political Free Day!!!!

Many have asked for a general motorcycleonly board with a separate board for the political/other subjects and that hasn't been possible. But I think we owe it to ourselves to have at least one day a week with no political/religious posts or replies to older posts of the same nature.

Of course all this would have to be self imposed and honored by all. The country is divided pretty close to 50/50 in it's politics, it would sure be nice to see Valkyriders come together and agree on something that would ultimately be beneficial to all.

This is all just me thinking out loud, wondering if there is any agreement or consensus on the idea?

Flintstone

That Sounds like a good common sense idea to me.

Lets focus on what brings us all together here, rather on what divides us.

Ice

I agree with you f6john, it seems that when winter comes we got to sh!t on the board and get into all subjects that cause controversy and some are started for just that reason. Now with the election being over it feels like a Political Board and not a Valkyrie Forum.

That's my .02

..

With the election over I'm happy to have woken up alive.

Non of my friends died last night.

I have a motorcycle in my garage.

Pretty good health.

The world turns.

But, it is possible to have a separate board for the political/religious/gun and other (off topic) subjects..... it's just unlikely.   :coolsmiley:    I'm not in favor of censorship, so if if you want to recommend censorship on a specific topic that doesn't appeal to you, then let's just shut the board down for a day or two and censor all topics so we don't offend anyone that or those days.

I agree this is a motorcycle forum and that should remain the focus of it but I think if you don't want to read or take part in religious or political threads don't click on them.
Riding is my way of escaping a lot of the troubles surrounding us. Coming here is another form of that.

Now we can look to forward to all the Christmas hype and all of the pleas for money and help from charities (worthy as they may be) I get tired of that and the political stuff too.

I want another Valkyrie for Christmas!!!

I didn't expect this to get much traction as it requires personal constraint on behalf of everyone participating, not censorship. I am not concerned with offending anyone with the political posts as most of us can carry on a discussion without all the drama. I just threw this out there for consideration, but I can control the urge to read or not read any post, political or otherwise, so I have no desire for a separate off topic board. I always find replies to most all posts to be interesting, informative and sometimes very revealing.

So as the country faces serious concerns and issues to resolve, the answer is the bury our heads in the sand and ignore the issues of the day either on Friday through Sunday, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and all of the time.

Hey, I tried to offer you some choices, I forgot to add, All politics- All the time ;D . We found out that the regular contributors to the political posts are about 80% conservative and 20% liberal. You can take a few percentage points from both sides for moderates. Nothing much going to change there, so all we really do most of the time is beat the proverbial dead horse. But if coming on here and banging your head against the wall makes you feel better, by all means, bang away! Some days I'll join you, some days (most I hope) I will have found something else to talk about.

As I said before this was just an exercise in thinking out loud. After the last 8 years I know there is no way that we as participants in this forum can go 24 hours without being political. ;)

I cant imagine that all who don't like political or religious posts don't have the ability to just not click on the link. I also cant imaging that with all the religious or political posts its taking away anyone wanting to post motorcycle related stuff. One has not taken the place of the other. So what is this really about, someone not being able to restrict themselves to NOT clicking on stuff that is not motorcycle related. So with this in mind how is a moratorium going to work unless the people who post the non motorcycle posts have more self control than the ones who post motorcycle related stuff? The ones who want this probably voted for Obama and are used to government control in their lives and feel more comfortable with that kind of situation, rather than one that takes thinking, personal initiatives and self control. While I appreciate this kind of situation for some it has never been something that I have wanted. I prefer to think and act on my own and have as many options to say no to as possible. Not to mention the information, comradery and just plain exchange of ideas makes life interesting.

+1 If you dont want to read it, dont clicky. The freedom of this board is what draws most folks to it. We can talk just about anything. If we just talked about bikes, we would get bored rather quickly..IMHO

Now Robert, I didn't vote for O'bama and I started this thread. I, for one, have gone into political overload. I have seen and heard enough in the past year to last me the next 4 years, but that's just me. But I have my answer, we as individuals want what we want with little to no consideration for a group as a whole. It's not that I want the forum my way as I am satisfied with the status quo, but as with most of American life, there seems to be no middle ground.

This has been as interesting exchange of ideas.

Another board I frequent has ONE thread named "Political". All posts are put there if they resemble political talk. Put there by the poster (or the poster is warned, then banned if it continues) or the moderators.

All the other forums I visit have a off topic section.  Not sure why this forum doesn't have it.

You'd better hold on to your hat, cause the next four years are gonna get bumpy.  You ain't seen nothin' yet.

The political overload and damage being done to this country is only just the beginning of what we've seen and heard thus far.  The more damage being done by Obama and his adminstration the more we're going to point it out and bring attention to it.  The last thing we should do as concerned citizens is to ignore everything and hope that it goes away.

Personally, I like and appreciate the posts, topics and items of discussion that others bring up and post about as they are often things I havn't heard of before.  I can look them up for myself and to see if they hold merit or not.....but I'm certainly not going to ignore what's happening to my country as I'm deeply concerned for it's future and will continue to post things that I see that should be brought to peoples attention....and I hope that others do so as well.

If you don't want to look at them, read them, talk about them, then that's your choice and your certainly free to do so whether that is on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, or the entire weekend or never.

It's time to change tactics.

As you said, - Liberalism is a cancer, and it's killing this country.

Here's the problem. It now has another four years where it won't be treated and it will metastasize. So here's my recommendation:

Let it. Let it grow, and let it do its job.

I have been saying for 15 years that liberals are their own worst enemy, by virtue of the fact that they ALWAYS have to learn things the hard way. It's time to let them. No more bailing them out. No more trying to stave off destruction. No more trying to undo their mistakes and put things back on course. Now is the time to entrench. Now is the time to STOP helping. To STOP contributing. To STOP creating jobs. To... yeah... to STOP offering charity. Now is the time to look out for ourselves, and hope that we're well enough prepared to ride out the endgame of liberal collectivism. They'll all die. But if we're prepared, we can get through.

And then, and only then, we can come back to rebuild. It's like a forest fire. It's a noble effort to fight it, but at some point you have to realize that it just needs to burn everything down - so that the forest can regrow.

Guns, Gold, and if it's your cup of tea, God. Invest in all.

And then let all the rest fall down upon them. Let them experience firsthand the end result of their ideology. We have to stop trying to save them. That's what I mean by changing our tactics. Now it's time to let them die. No one here can deny that they're asking for it. This is what they want. This is what they're asking for. This is HOW THEY VOTED.

It's time to abandon all of them until they die out. And I'm not just talking about liberal America.

I'm talking about Greece. I'm talking about Italy. I'm talking about France. I'm talking about Spain. I'm talking about the UK. I'm talking about Mexico. It's time to leave them to their fate. It's time to sit back and watch them borrow and spend themselves into bankruptcy. And then collapse.

Here's the tough part.

In the meantime, fuel is going to skyrocket. Job creation is going to turn to NOTHING. Unions are going to be even more empowered. Food prices are going to become insane. Every single sane businessman in America is going to slash work hours to find ways around Obamacare. And then, when Obamacare tries to rebel by jacking up wages - the businessmen are going to slash jobs. And then close their factories. And then leave. Infrastructure will slowly collapse. It'll probably start with the airports and the post office. Then, things will get really bad. Crime, borne of desperation, will skyrocket. And don't think Islam and/or China won't be chomping at the bit to attack us while we're weak. There is no way, just by the numbers, that the state (or even the military) will be able to control it. Desperate people will resort to desperate things. And you'll have to defend yourself against it. It's not going to be easy.

I'd like to leave you with a different word. I don't know any of you. I don't know who you are, or of what you're capable. But I have a different word for you.

And that word is: ENDURE.

Because that's the name of the game now, folks. "Winning/Losing" has become irrelevant. Now we have to outlast them, and the self-destructive, ruinous ends of their ideology.

Well.....maybe not to that extent, but I sorta agree with you.

The day after the election, Harry Ried said that they HAVE to compromise and reach across the asle and work with the Republicans to resolve the impending fiscal cliff that the country is facing.

However, he said that ANY deal MUST include soaking the rich for more taxes or there will be NO deal.

So much for reaching across the asle Harry.  Compromise lasted less than 24 hours after the election.  Rome is burning and Harry is still fiddling.

Sooooo.  What to do.

Perhaps the Republicans should give old Harry and the Democrats exactly what they want.  Go ahead and extend to them everything they want.  Go ahead and screw the country up for the next four years.

Then in 4 years, run against Hillary (because it WILL be Hillary they put up in the next election) and run against that distruction of America and paint her and her party as old and out of touch.

Get back in power and fix this country.
