NEAT CHEAP ADDON....

I have the chrome velocity stacks on my 98 standard and i'm constantly asked by non valk riders about the open air intakes. Most of the time i humor them and just say "I don't ride in the rain" I was on the forum where someone dressed it up to look like actual intakes. Well.....the nickel trick is getting old so i decided to give them something else to wonder about. I got on ebay and found the cheapest pcv filters i could get my hands on and got them in red color to match my bike. They ran about $5 ea. I ordered 6 and installed them on the velocity stacks with a rubber hose as a shim. i had to also raise the tank by 1/2" in the front and 1/4" in the back to accomidate the filters. Now I really have something for them to ask about....

I have seen those air filters attached directly to the carbs and it looks neat and cheap.  I think they detract from the classy looking stacks though.  JMHO

This is a little off topic, but 2 years ago when I first was attracted to the Phat Gurls, I look at buying a base Valk from a local used car dealer.  It had those velocity stacks on it and I stayed away from it because I do ride in the rain and didn't know they were for looks!  But that being said, I was still smittened by the Phat Gurls looks!

I assume you mounted them with the 3M double sided adhesive? Do they stay on good?

I used 3M body side molding tape they have been on my bike for years now.

How the hell do you people keep the fronts of your girls so nice looking? Seems like as soon as I clean her up, more bugs get attracted directly to every forward facing surface...

If I'm going to clean mine I make sure I follow with a wax, polish, something that keeps the critters from sticking like they are covered with super glue. They do clean off much easier.

If I go on a long ride and get a lot of bugs, I clean them off within a day or so, and it is easier to keep them off. If the chrome is well polished they don't stick as bad, and I just use the Honda brand spray polish to wipe them off. Just takes a few minutes if you don't let weeks and weeks of bugs build up.

I got these ones in eBay. The have the same size that OEM carburetors cover, they are full stainless steel and fit perfectly. I used double sided tape and they have been there for one year under sun and rain without any problem

I NEVER.....understood the phalic projections.......you all put atop your Carburetors.....

I could see it........if they ACTUALLY.......did something!  Other than that......????
