That means its a prime location for a ride.


My sister in law was there last week to check it out and reported its worth seeing, so I will, soon

Speaking of Museums. I ram accross a great mototcycle museum in Maggie Valley, NC, and close to the entrance to Blue Ridge Parkway. The owner moved the museum to Magfgie Valley about 10 years ago to take advantage of the parkway riders. Mostly Harleys and other American made Bikes. Original bikes, restored bikes, and bikes needing restoration.

OCC is in Newburgh as well.  Yea, yea,....I know, I know,...but it's cool to look at the bikes up close.  Some really are works of art.  Costs nothing to visit and look around.  And they now have a moderately priced restaurant.  

Newburgh would be areally cool place if they would clean it up and get rid of the gang element.  We went on a dance/booze cruise out of Newburgh one evening and ate at a pretty cool place that was at the same pier.  The place, I forget the name, had the largest fish tank I've ever seen.

Sounds like the Wheels Through Time museum .... a fascinating place. Story is that if it is on the museum floor for viewing it will run and the owner is more than happy to show you.

Went there last summer.   Tons + tons of Indians and HD's.  Two floors with all kinds bikes.  Very interesting place, worth the trip and admission.

1st time Bonnie and I ( and Bird,Moonshine,Magoo, Rusty and Donna, Warlock and Coolbreeze) went to Wheels' museum in Maggie Valley was at Dots  and it was awesome how a hundred year old bike runs and the owner and his staff take time to tell the stories behind each machine, where they found them and just a wonderful  afternoon experience
Went again with some of  the VOAi folks (who are also VRCC folks) in 2011 and it was  great as the 1st time   Had some good BBQ down the street from the museum also.

Might be fun to work the museum into a winery ride during the summer especially if Bonzo gets the itch to buy another bike

Throwing around the idea of a ride to Watkins Glen for the Sprint Cup race next summer. Then maybe meeting daughter and son in law our in the Hamptons, maybe a stop here as well as Billy Joel's Century Cycle in Oyster Bay.

There is a lot of history and neat stuff in the area.. That motorbike museum and Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome among others.. Beautiful country.. For those going thru the middle of the state such as Watkins Glen,, the Glenn Curtiss museum in Hammondsport is a must.. He made the first american V-twin engine,, first W-triple,, first V8 motorbike, not to mention his aviation stuff, etc..

You're right, It was the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley. The owner was there when we were there. Interesting guy, and willing to talk to the visiters.  Several other folks were around to talk about the different bikes. I asked the owner how many bikes he had, and he said that he didn't know because he had never counted them.

There used to be a great motorcycle museum across the road from the Glenn Curtiss museum. It was called "The Vanishing American", and it housed the largest collection of Board Track Racers and a few old hillclimb machines. They were all pre 1930 machines, he also had trophies, riding gear, posters, photos, etc.

The proprietor also started collecting mid-seventies Suzuki RE-5 rotary powered motorcycles; last time I saw his RE-5 collection, he had more than 20 bikes.

Sounds like a plan Oss! It was on our agenda this summer, Patty wanted to go. OCC not so much, Walmart has the stuff cheaper LOL Lots of good restaurants in the area.

Oss that museum is cool,  I was there last May.  We then went to OCC.  That part was a waste.
