Fuel Tank Storage Question.

Last year when I installed the Interstate tank on my Standard.  I drained the old tank, put it into a plastic bag and hung it up on the wall.  

Should I have done anything to ensure it doesn't rust or corrode?  Didn't think about it at the time, so I just went and checked it out and nothing so far, no corrosion or rust I could see up to this point but..................................................................  Should I go get some tank sealer or not?   There is absolutely nothing wrong with this tank and I'd hate to see it go to waste simply because I didn't do something I should have.

I would spray the inside with WD-40 and leave it wrapped up.
