It could be someone else, but as I recall his initial contact to this board resulted from members ridiculing his E-bay auction to sell his bike for way over market price.

I saw that a couple days ago. Why not sell all the chrome ad ons seperate then sell the bike for 9000? Seems less time consuming and easier. Apparently there are health issues present so more than likley someone will have to do the work for him. I just dont see that much more money being made from parting one out unless it is wrecked or motor is bad. Why part out a perfectly good bike? Maybe what he was asking for the whole bike was brand new price. $ 15,000 is what mine was new. I have the dealer tags and receipts in the filing cabinet.

I agree with Gavin_Sons. It seems like such a waste to part out a perfectly good running bike.

I hate to see Valkyries parted out, but I talked recently to some folks who bought some
Valkyries to part out. They make a lot more money parting them out than selling them.

I agree it's almost criminal to part out a perfectly good Valkyrie.  Someone who truly loved or even appreciated the bike wouldn't do that.  Someone who was motivated to get the most possible money would.  The sum of the parts will be two to three times the market value of the used Valkyrie.  That is, of course, disregarding the time and effort of dis-assembly.

Huh?   You just want the chrome ad ons huh?  Because the bike with that many miles on it and that little chrome will not get $9000.   Unless of course you are offering.  

I think he knows with that many miles people suspect a worn out bike and that is why he wants to sell the engine/motor first I imagine.  If he were to sell the chrome and other stuff (bags, seat etc) then he would be stuck without a bike and a engine/motor in his garage.  If he can sell that first, I think the rest will go easily.   But that's JMO....

I hope he does well and gets what he wants out of it. I considered the same thing. Now I just hope he sells the motor quick so I can get the parts I want of it.

After I was hit on my 97 std, I parted it out. I paid $8.500 for it. It took me a year of fighting with the insurance turds but I think I made out prety good. I ended up letting my insurance pay me because Liberty Mutual only wanted to pay $3000 and wanted $2400 to buy it back. I think I had Progressive then. Progressive was going to pay me $8000 for the bike and I could buy it back for $1200. After 2 years total time I made about $8000 parting it out. I would not want to do that again. UPS store knew me by first name. It is a lot of work parting out a Valkyrie. Keeping up with internet adds, pictures, packing, shipping, e-mails, taking the bike apart and not to mention dealing with the scamers. It is a full time job almost. A couple of good things that come from parting out a Valkyrie..... you learn how to work on them and meet some really great folks!
