When they said this kid was Aspergers, my antenna went up. My son is diagnosed Aspergers. It is a terrible disorder and very frustrating. More times than not, these kids are not just smart but boarder line genius. However, they have very little social skills which leads to their frustration and ultimately to their acting out. When they do act out, it is usually without regard to anyone or anything...they just want to be heard...NOW!. This kid was heard. However, with proper medication and interaction, love and guidance, they can be an awesome asset. We had a difficult time with my son when he was growing up, but now he's working and going to college. He has a good heart, a good sense of humor and his insight and perspective are often profound.

Sounds like a good parenting story to me.  Hard, but necessary work, no doubt.

Bad (or no) parenting so often has disastrous results.

(I'm withholding an opinion in this case, 'till more evidence is in, but mom leaving her guns and ammo out was sure a serious error in judgment) (But did she buy a Sig, Glock and an M4 for herself, or was it for her son?  This would seem to be another error in judgment.)

EDIT:  So now they are writing that mom was a doomsday prepper, and a gun collector in her own right...... so she was not buying them for him.... but she still left them out for him to use.  Given his limitations, it is doubtful he could have obtained the guns any other way, at least while 20yoa. Through gross and reckless negligence, mom is certainly complicit in these murders.

Anyone that believes gun control will have an impact on such deplorable crimes does note posses the ability to think logically.

Let's ban food and drink or the amount you are able to purchase to stop obesity.  Oh that's been done in NY! What a joke.

I believe we are witnessing the results of individuals that from the time they were old enough to operate a video game have been killing and receiving instant gratification by a high score.  In addition let's not overlook the music promoting murder, rape and drugs.  Most of us turn such crap off.  Listen to the lyrics some time.  Unbelievable!   

What s the surprise? Adolescents are just like computers.  Garbage in, garbage out.   Their just products of their environment.

Perhaps parent's, assuming they are still alive, should be charged with involuntary manslaughter for allowing their children to play video games?  This makes as much sense as gun control laws.

If you want to stop / reduce such acts you have to make a cultural change.  Such changes take years if not generations.   

Want to change what people do as an outcome of what society feeds them, revise the first amendment.  Not going to happen.

How about a 1000% morality tax on the producers of games and music?  Government loves taxes and how do you make a case that things promoting death and violence are not immoral?  Should be no problem, just another sin tax.

When I was a kid many people said that certain rock groups were bad and called for censorship of their lyrics and won. My favorite group was and still is KISS. I used to hear that KISS stood for Kids In Satins Service. What bullshit. I listened to them all the time as well as other bands and never had a inclination to do drugs or harm to anyone. If a kid has a disorder that would make them violent then getting these types of games would probable not be good idea. JMHO........

+1  Its all in how you were brought up, not tv or video games. Had a bb gun in 2nd grade and my 1st shotgun in 5th grade. Never wanted to harm people that did not deserve it.

This whole thing is nothing but sad. My heart breaks for those involved! There will be "knee jerk" legislation  because of this. Activist on both sides will go to war themselves. Wtih the true fact that no one can agree on anything anymore will complicate things even more.
Government can't even agree anymore how do they expect the general public to get along? Along with everything else that goes on any more, this will add to the dog and ponie show that government so famous for. All at the expense of crap like this.
The attention should be paid toward everyone involved right now not "one upsmanship" or political posturing. But, we know it will all happen?

Agreed, I like playing some of them myself and I dont want to go out and kill people to deal with stress.  But I will bet that as me, you were much, much older than 8-10 when you played a violent video game.  You already had firm morals established.

Give it a week or two and he will try to use a presidential decree to declare semi-autos are class 3 weapons and can not be owned by the general public. That would allow him to get around congress. Hope I'm wrong  but some of his minions just had a meeting with the ATF a few weeks ago. Some in the firearms community were saying that was their plan then. Like I say, I'm hoping they were wrong and I am wrong but it wouldn't surprise me to see it fall out this way.

Frye, I picked up up that Smith today at our best local range (sweet).  A dozen guys were standing around outside talking before it opened, and I heard exactly the same thing suggested as a possible tactic.  I keep up with NRA-ILA and most other stuff pretty regularly, and I have never heard of this discussed before.  Seems to me NFA is pretty well settled and it would be hard to just add a whole new class of firearms to it........... but who knows what this bastard will do, along with his hip pocket buddy Holder. 

If you want peace, prepare for war.   

The thing I keep thinking about is that by the time it would make it to the supreme court for a ruling it might be "his supreme court".
Glad you got the Smith, it looks like a great gun. I just bought my first Smith this fall. It's a camo semi-auto 22 pistol. Wasn't expensive and it's pretty impressive to shoot. Hasn't had a jam yet and it's more accurate than my old Ruger standard auto. Not a light gun though.
