Do random acts of kindness because it's the right thing to do and that the very doing of each act will make you a better person.

Good will not always defeat evil.  Evil wins and has won again and again.  However, good will ultimately defeat evil.

I'm not so much concerned about being in on the win as I am about being on the right team.

I support you, Bonzo, in your encouragement that we should all do more random acts of kindness.

Not making it religious or political just my reasoning why I do exactly that, defeat evil with kindness. I don't go by words of man but solid teaching of God because I trust His teaching more than platitudes.

Not to Boast, but I like to help when I can and I see a real need. Just last week I gave a co-worker a ride to a tire shop after work to pick up his car he was having the tires replaced on. I saw a young woman there with two small children and she was crying. I asked what was wrong and she said they had been to St. Louis to a hospital for a checkup for one of their children. They were trying to get home in KY and her husband noticed their tire was going flat. They had no spare so they had stopped at this tire store to get the flat repaired. The shop said the tire was in too bad of shape and they would not repair it. The couple said they had no money and could not buy a tire. The tire shop mgr said the couple actually needed two tires replaced. I asked him if he could help me help this couple? To shorten the story, he gave me a deal on two tires which I paid for, took the couple across the street and filled their gas tank for them, gave them $20 for food and sent them on their way. They asked for my address and said they would send me a repayment for the expenditures when they could. Will I ever hear from them again?...NAH! Do I care?....NAH! You never lose by helping someone!

I can completely understand helping folks as Hef and others mention. We do and have done whatever whenever we can also whether or not we know, like or dis-like the folks and not ask for anything in return. Yep, its just the right thing to do. We continue to do so even though we have been stabbed in the back for it. There are some people that just are no good. Sad, but, true.

   I have found that the truly needy (like the family that needed the tires) are more grateful the people who only want something you can give them.
   No matter what charity I give to I always wonder how is the gift being used but in a case as that family you know that you are helping them and where it's going.
   When I'm offered money I just tell them to help someone else when it's needed.
   I had a similar situation and it sure gives me a good feeling about myself.  Call it selfish but knowing the feeling I get just drives me to help more people in need.

You're a good man.  It is exactly what this world needs more of.  Help those in need, but don't create more dependents.
