My brother Chris, AKA Psychotic Bovine sent this letter to the Ft Wayne papers. Good read....

Once again, another act of pure evil. An individual took his rage out on defenseless people, most of them children, on December 14. To say this is horrible beyond words would be a gross understatement. It's unimaginable that someone would do this. What isn't unimaginable is the call for more gun control. In fact, many pundits and activists were calling for it before the first bodies were removed from the scene. This is disturbing to me. It seems almost like they are taking advantage of a horrible situation like some twisted form of ambulance chasing. And for what reason? Political "currency" to further an agenda.

Banning or further regulating firearms is a non-solution to violence. People have been killing for thousands of years. It's likely if we don't wipe ourselves out, we will be doing it for thousands more. Still, there are many who advocate banning and confiscation in a futile attempt to end all violence. Unfortunately, this is a placebo fix, to say the least. I imagine it will make many people feel good, but offers no solution to these acts of violence. Back in 1927, a man named Andrew Kehoe detonated a bomb at a Bath Township, Mi school. The death toll was 44, including the bomber himself. In 1990, Julio Gonzalez, seething from an argument with his former girlfriend, purchased some gasoline and set fire to the only exit at the Happy Land nightclub in the Bronx. 87 people were killed in the fire that destroyed the night club. In 1995, Timothy Mcveigh detonated a bomb made from fertilizer outside of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Ok. The building was nearly leveled and 168 people were killed. Over 3,000 people were killed on that fateful day of September 11, 2001. The weapons that started the chain of events that led to the destruction of 4 airliners full of people, the fall of the Twin Towers, damage to the Pentagon, and the crash of an airliner in a Pennsylvania field, were simple boxcutters. These are the largest mass murders in US history. No firearms were involved in these incidents.

It's possible that we will never know the full motive of the madman on December 14. The only thing we can do to prevent loss of life is to be eternally vigilant. We need to see and recognize the signs of impeding violence and we need to be prepared to fight evil when it presents itself. Benjamin Franklin said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." The citizens and lawmakers of the United States need to remember this.

Very good letter, Chris.  I'm glad to see that you're writing letters to the Editor again.  I wish that more gun owners would do that to combat the constant antigun drivel.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

I was reading the paper this morning. More gun control drivel.  It basically stated that " states with the most gun laws have the least amount of deaths by guns".

REALLY. REALLY YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.  Illinois has some of the most strictest gun control laws in the country but one of the most violent cities there is. Chicago. Not to mention NY and LA. Give me a freeking break. I was so pissed I waded the paper up and threw it away. Twila had to calm me down. Why I do this to myself is beyond me. I have a tendency to get worked up over stuff like this. These asshole reporters are so misinformed it make my blood boil........

I do not have the link as I sit here ,but in Austraila , they took all guns and the crime rate went rampant as there is no way for the people to defend their selves with a gun.  The criminals still have guns.  Gun control is not for criminals . They will always have guns.I will defend my family and friends and property . It is my right as an American!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the garbage I was hearing from CNN made me lose my cool. Talking about the murdered mother, about how a nice person would not have THOSE type of guns in her home, it didn't make sense. Those are the type of guns found in Afganastan.

I was so pissed off!

if memory serves the event that led to the disarming of the Aussies was a maniac on a rampage kinda like this one. however this murderous rampage involved so many young children that the emotions will run very deep, I only hope cooler heads will prevail.

Great letter, excellent really. Full of facts, logic and common sense. Too bad it wont matter a bit to those bent on confiscating your weapons and destroying the 2nd Amendment.

did not liberal hollywood show the killing of all the school children in the star wars movie, except using a light saber?
I wonder where the demonic killer in conn got the idea to do what he did.

+1 on the letter,  the media makes me sick, most of them are all anti-american in their thinking.

Good letter Chris...

I fear that the people who advocate gun owner rights and the 2nd amendment are cursed if they speak and cursed if they stay silent.

Too many people are in a rush to do something, anything in an effort to make themselves feel better.

Lots of things may change in the near future - much of it probably won't help, but it might help some people feel better for at least a while.

Thanks for the compliments, guys!  I only wish that more people would write letters to the papers.  It might be a case of sticking your finger in the hole in the dam when the whole dam is collapsing, but if it changes one mind...

I am planning on redrafting this letter and sending it to our reps in Washington.
I guess dad is glad I am fired up again with my letters.  (I used to write one every couple of months.  Truth is I don't like writing them all that much, but they allow me to vent.)

I think the best defense for gun owners right now is a good offense. Everybody needs to be reminded that the only thing that stops bad people with guns is good people with guns. If those school employees had the right to be armed there would almost certainly have been less people killed. Criminals are drawn to the helpless like moths to a light.

Great letter.

You're so right.

And the mainstream media will not report when an armed citizen prevents or may have prevented a crime.

Example, In all of the mainstream news reports about the Oregon Mall shootings did anyone hear about this guy ?:

We'll never know if seeing someone with a gun prepared to confront him is what ended his spree or not.

But, my guess is that it didn't hurt.
