Great Deal at Fastnal Stores.

I went to my local fasnal store to get some needed things today and the manager told me of a smoking hot deal. The Carl Edwards Limited racing creeper that sells for $166.53 is on sale till the end of the year for $29.99. The licence agreement with the race team ends at that time and they will no longer be able to sell them. I don't know how many are available, but I ordered two at that price. Thanks for posting that!!!  Went to the Fastenal store and the gal didn't know what a creeper was, had to have her look it up in the computer and show it to her.  She wasn't happy that she didn't know about it, cause she would have bought one for her boy friend. There is no way I would even consider buying one at the original price of $166.53.
Anyway, I ordered 2 (one for my son and me).

thats a great deal.  However,  I don't jake up my SUV or pickup just crawl underneath to change oil laying on a piece of cardboard.  If I use a creeper 3" up more,  my gutt won't fit underneath either vehicle darn it.

Don't agree. If they lost/ended their licence to sell then they had to get rid of / sell the merchandise before licence end. Make some $$$ rather than scrapping the merchandise.

While there is truth in what you say, it is always interesting to know what the mark up on an item is.
We have a formula and if you know the formula, you can see the mark up when you look at the sales sticker/tag.  

Due to this economy, I was forced to enter the retail environment a couple of years ago.  As I moved up the chain of responsibility I became more aware of what the mark up was on certain auto parts, some is outlandish, some is so low it's only carried because it is something all motorist need (is also widely available) and is priced as an incentive to bring customers into the facility/store.   It's almost funny to watch some items sit on the shelf (wondering why in the world it was ever brought into the store) when the decision is finally made to clearance it and how the price is affected.  

Don't kid yourselves, the folks working at the stores get first dibs on anything worth having.   Eventually, those items not sold will be tossed but, that normally takes a while.  Rarely do I see much actually hit the dumpster, someone will always take it.  Pretty sure some of it ends up at local flea markets but, you are correct.

Well, I got a call yesterday, seems most were sold out. The gal called around the country and found a few available in the Midwest but no dealer would let them go. BUMMER!

My local store called 8 other stores as far away as Saskatchewan and their answer was always the same... Everybody already had received numerous calls, even the stores in remote Canada.
