After "jonesing" for a long time for a set of OEM bags, I bought some a little while ago from a forum member.

Finally got around to installing them today. I feel it was worth the wait! The Valk seemed to purr all the way home with her Xmas present,

Beautiful Fla. day, blue skies and a high of about 70 degrees!

You're right about the cost, they're sure getting pricey, buuuuuuuuuttttttt, she deserved 'em!

Other than an Ultimate seat the best $$ I've spent on a Valkyrie!  

BTW, is that a chrome "Valkyrie" emblem on the side of your new bags??
If so where did you get it?

Boss Hoss Bill, I just last week scored a set of Interstate bags too. I have not even had time to look at them yet, still sitting in my truck. Your Valkyrie looks fantastic

Actually it is a decal from the previous owner. It is unusual and I'm happy with the way it looks. It was really done very professionally. I don't know where he obtained it?

i havent seen a set off bags that i was willing to spend a grand on yet so a week ago i bid on a set of national cycle cruseliner bags on ebay turned out to be a great buy they were black so i didnt need to paint them they came with the valkyrie mounting brackets and they were in new condition my 300.00 bid hit his reserve and shipping was free and so far ive only done short trips on my valkyrie so i didnt need a set as large as the oem bags and i really didnt want that huge set of brackets involved in mounting them but i would like a set of the oem front stays to protect just the front edges of the bags i seen these bags for as much as 900.00 plus mounts on ebay so 300.00 was ok for a starter set merry xmas to me

Looks great. I love the solo look on these bikes. Did you lower the back or is it just the angle of the picture. You did a nice job with the whole look of your bike.

mine is dropped about as low as i think the rear will go with progressive 11 inch shocks

I have about $1600 in mine too.  I scored a set of bags with ALL the hardware for $800.  I started a thread on here about the Tsyaku Jumbo Strong bags... annd he sent me a PM with an offer to buy his.  I jumped on it.  Then had them painted.  The decision to have the white stripe on the bags cost me a lot, as just the PAINT cost $575.  My painter didn't charge me much. Not really.  I gave him $100 more than  he asked for anyway and still feel like I cheated him.  At the time, it hurt to pay for it.  Now I REALLY love them.

I should go drop a couple more $100's on him.  He did a GREAT job on the paint.



I am really glad I went with the OEM bags.  The only think I might have liked better is a set of HD bags converted to work on the Valk.  And that just to be a little different.  I don't think ANY other bags lines work as well.  Honda did a nice job on these.

We think alike!
There are cheaper bag options, larger capacity bag options, some very unique & great looking bag options, but as far as I know only the OE set up has the very strong bracing that protects the bags in a tip over situation.
That was the biggest reason I went with OE. That & the one key feature is nice!

The OEM bags, IMHO, are way better than anything out there just because of the bracket you speak of.

I watched a fellow Tourer rider tip over on a slow speed turn once.   The bike went to the inside on him and he jumped off. The bike just stopped, on the bracket, motor off, sitting there like it was saying "Stupid human, just get back on".

That function saved hundreds of dollars in repairs.  Honda R&D and engineering did good on that.

Your paint job is one of the best and most original I've seen, it really stands out.

Tropic Traveler and Hook. You're right about the protection you get with the OEM brackets. They are super STRONG, and if you do tip it over, you'll be oh so thankful for the damages you just avoided!

I got lucky, paying just over a grand for all the hardware, key, and bags that were a 9 1/2 out of ten, thus avoiding any more expenses incurred for additional paint. Thank to the forum member  , who I bought them from, for a clean and honest sale! I saw alot of stuff on Ebay, like Pinwalls site, but they were pricey, not a complete package, and in need of alot of work once you bought them.

Now all I need is a set of rails and scuff plates, (maybe Smokin Joe will leave his Interstate  unattended one night, hee hee) and I'm all done. Until the next mod catches my eye, it truly is a sickness (but a good one) we all share.
