Another WalMart Battery Bites The Dust.

Guess I have learned an expensive lesson.  No more WalMart batteries for me.   Three months ago it was the battery in my I/S.  That one was a little more than a year old...one moment it was good then Bam... wouldn't hold a charge.  Then last week it was the battery in the Std. same battery from Walmart but a little over 2 years old.  Both EverStart batteries for $76. each.  Replaced both with genuine Yuasa's.  With luck, they should last as long as the batteries that came in the bikes from the factory....8 - 9 years.

Yep,, I agree.. i replaced the original after 9 yrs with a cheapie.. Now in just over one year I have one that won't hold a charge for more than a week.. I guess its worth it to use Yuasa..

Steve, are you using your Deltran charger on the bikes for any length of time?

I can make MGM eat batteries like candy bars using my Battery Tender.  It is frying my batteries.  I know, it isn't suppose to, but I can put one on the bike, Trike or lawn equipment and in 30 days it is fried.....

Current battery in MGM is a WallyWorld and it is starting it's 4th year.....  Battery Tender has NOT been on it............  It will hold a charge all summer, but yes it does have a tendency to go down during the winter..

Every couple of weeks I put the Tender on them but as soon as the green light goes steady, I take it off.  Usually only have it on a battery no more than 20 minutes before showing a full charge.

I know other people have had good luck with batteries from WalMart...wished I had also.

I couldn't remember when I bought my Wally battery. I just checked my service log and I bought in June of '04 at 35K on the ODO. Five years later and 106K and it's still firing like a champ.

u need a charger that is designed for an AGM type battery. An AGM battery also needs to be intially charged differently also. The schmacher's walmart sells are excellent. the one for smaller batteries is basically the same as sold by yuasa which received a top rating from motorcycle consumer news. If it is a newer battery tender unit, u should be ok.

I have one of those Schumacher chargers from WalMart.  That is what I use to put the initial charge into new batteries.  My Battery Tender is 2 years old.
