My wifes dad owned a Gulf Oil station once. 

Back when I was 16, I worked as a service station attendant at a 24/7 gas station one summer.  Worked the grave yard shift.  Had to pump the gas, check the oil, wash the windshield.....the whole deal. 

Gas was 33 cents a gallon then.

I don't think I saw a single Sinclair station?  We once owned a Sinclair station. I like the one picture that offered a Nickle off per gallon, you don't see that anymore.

My dad worked for  Sinclair  for 29yrs. He started for Meacom oil  in the 50s Sinclair bought them out and when he retired it was Arco. He worked in production in the oilfield patch. I did notice one mobil station in there that was doing it right, 55 Chevy in the service bay, 58 Chevy at the pumps and a 57 Chevy at the cross street.

That is what we call today a parking ramp.

I'm assuming the  station has the control for the cars.

If it  is the top car, they would key in 5-1 and it would slide forward and lower to the ground.    Drive car off and it would return to the home stack.

They were a bitch when they broke down.

Not sure, but that looks like the one in Glendale, CA.    However, don't hold me to that.

26.9 cents a gallon in that one pic.  Of course it depends on what part of the country you were in but, I'm pretty sure we would all be happy to see that again.  The good ole days weren't all good but, as I remember them, most of them were wonderful.

When I was a teenager pumping gas, I sold it to most drivers at the pump and put it in myself.  I think it was 25 cents a can.  Hoser

I bet you checked the oil and washed the windshield too, and sometimes checked air in the tires.
I know I did when I worked at a station.

 I'm 59 yo.  With out a doubt, THE BEST job I ever had was pumping gas.  Smoking a little weed, Checking out the skirts, (they knew it too), and giving ass holes wrong directions.

My brother had a 68 Grand Prix with i believe the 428 HiPo. It needed Hitest. My 69 Catalina had the 400 with a 2 barrell. Even with lower compression and a 2 barrell it would still sh t and git.    Not as fast as his Prix but still respectable.    RIDE SAFE.

I worked in a little gas station/grocery/beer store a while before I went in the service. That would be '68-Early'69. I had to pump, wash the winshield, check the oil, and tire pressure on every car. Only exception, if the customer asked me not to. Our stations looked like those then, nearly everywhere. I remember gas wars, and bought gas as cheap as .17. Fill up a Boat of a car for less than 5. bucks.

The station I worked at was a Kayo Oil Co. gas station in the very early '70's. 

It's a fish store now.

When i lived in Il. we had J & L which was a full service fuel stop. My brother and i both worked at the same one on different shifts. Pump the gas check the oil(butt heads got sold a quart they didn't need)wash windshield and ask about their tires. Loved the gals coming in with the mini skirts.  It was not a bad job-outside most of the time the boss wasn't breathing down our necks and the female scenery was mostly nice to look at. Again i'm diggin into the memory locker.  RIDE SAFE.
