Chasing The Valk

Was doing a search for "Honda Valkyrie" awhile back and found this short blog. All I can say is WOW,
wish I'd been there!
With a lot of us being unable to ride during the frosty days of Winter, seems like the perfect time to post this. My special thanks to Northwest Sport Touring for putting this out on the web for all to enjoy. With that said, sit back and spend the next 18 minutes dreaming about your Valkyries, Springtime...... and a woman named Teresa...
Could you catch her? Would you try?
I'd have a blast trying to keep up, but I seriously doubt if I could.

Oh Teresa what a gal. I found Teresa in Spring 2009 (I think). I was leading a group of riders to Run 21 in Berkenfeld Oregon. We were gathering in Olympia Washington. My first site of Teresa was her riding by me to the end of the line on her Valk. The Valk is a huge Honda with a flat 6 cylinder engine. It is something special.
As she road by me my thought was "Man that is a big bike for such a little girl". LOL I was to be educated later. Teresa was tall and skinny. A very attractive lady. But on that bike at first sight she looked very small.

We road at Cruiser pace the Clatskanie
Or and the start of Hwy 47. I told all the
cruisers that this was a very nice road
and very twisty. As I was riding Sport
Touring I said I was going to ride a a
quick (I never say fast) pace. They
were welcome to follow at pace if they
wanted but not to worry about getting
lost I would wait at the other end and
there was no were to turn off in the middle.

So off we went. I took off and soon lost the
main group but I could see a couple riders
behind me. There was at least one other ST
rider. Then we hit the twisties and my
attention was all ahead of me. Seems to me
in hind sight I might have thought I heard
something behind me. But it the tight twisties
I did not look back.

As we were getting closer to the end I again heard something and this time I looked back. I was greeted with a rear view mirror full of a big red and white Honda Valkyrie. Holy crap that LITTLE girl was laying that valk on its side grinding metal on both sides. She was right on my rear. So I watched the rear view a little more on those last few corners.

When we got to the intersection I pulled into the parking area and got off. I could see way back the one other ST coming. But Teresa and the Valk were right there. I ran back to her and said holy crap you can ride that bike. I was thinking of adding "will you marry me" . She had a huge grin on her face. We were to spend the next couple days riding just her and I. She never wanted to stop and no route was to long.

Teresa road with our group for the next year or so then all of a sudden she moved to Alaska. We have not seen or heard from her for a long time. Teresa if you see this drop me or us a line.

Here are the 3 Chasing The Valk Video's

Thanks a lot, Miscott.  Now I've got this aching inside that won't let go.  The roads are covered with crap, the temps are just now climbing into the thirties and I'm held prisoner just inside this windowed dungeon.

Here's a short clip of Scott trying hard not to run over me coming down off Push Mountain in Arkansas.

Push Mountain Road - Arkansas HWY 341

And here's Scott chasing someone a little more his speed through Deal's Gap.

Deals Gap - Valkyrie

I believe that's Winghot and Smokinjoe out in front.

Great video's !  Hope Scott has some good friends in the Plating business or owns his own..
Been about 25 years since I drug parts like that in the Olympic peninsula, running from Neah Bay to Forks or Port Angeles on my old GW. Kinda miss those days.

If your dragging pegs like Scott was, where do your feet go? Sounded like around 9.18 it almost got serious... thanks for the videos!

Feet, similar to pegs, are hinged.   ;)

Yea, after that mid 9 minute scrape on the right turn, he rode a little less aggressive.  Can't blame him a bit.  I never did see enough of Joe's bike to figure out which Valkyrie he was riding.  Anybody know?

Thanks for the vids Willow.  Enjoyed both of them.

I believe that was Joe's Bandit.  Neither of those two lead bikes was a Valkyrie.

Awesome videos. I may have to go ride the Honda 50 around in the snow tomorrow now. :tickedoff: :2funny: Scott was riding about 2 levels above my "A" game. Sure was fun to watch. Come on melting snow.

I got to thinking about it and that was'nt the day Wayne crashed the Beemer. The day he crashed we had a large group headin' for InZane in Johnson City and I was on my Valkyrie that day.

Great post miscott, but the first video ended too soon...I wanted to see a shot of what Teresa looked like after stopping in the parking lot at the end. Any facial pics that you can share of her?

Fred.

I had a small Sony Camcorder on a RAM mount on the left handlebar, just outside the windscreen.  Worked well.

I was determined to keep up with Joe and Wayne, despite the fact that they are better riders, and had twice the ground clearance.  I puckered up pretty good at the obvious point in the deals gap video.  When the hard parts hit, its time to back off.  They're quite unforgiving. Sure was a hell of a lot of fun though.

Joe, if you remember, at the end of that run we stopped at the overlook.  3 minutes later a 600 sportbike came screaming around the corner and then lowsided, sliding right past us assholes and elbows flying.  I was ready to get the hell away from deals gap for awhile!

Nice riding Scott... your arms must have been PUMPED at the end. I have to say, if it had been me at the 9:18 mark, the sound that would have accompanied the heavy scraping would have been that of my sphincter slamming shut and taking a bite out of my shorts.  :2funny:

aknickster

Well I live in Alaska and I'm a huge part of the riding community and I never seen her or that bike.  I'll keep you all posted if I run into her.

I'm not real sure what the engine size of the Beemer that Wayne had but I'm thinking it was a 1200 cc . My Bandit was also a 1200cc . You did a hellofa job I'm kinda glad I wasn't on my Valkyrie or I could have been spanked by a Oklahoma rider in my own backyard  :cooldude:
