Interstate Switch Pod Maintenance

Does anyone have a link to the page that shows how to clean the switches in the Interstate switch pod. I seem to remember on that same page there was a tutorial on how to wire the switches for something other than their intended purpose.

I have rewired mine.  Unfortunately I am leaving in an hour and have no drawings available. 

If you do not have a CB on your Interstate, you can easily use three switches in the pod for functions you desire.  The three switches are
PTT ( hook switch from bottom )
CB Squelch
CB channel

I used the PTT, and CB channel to control my own CB.  Since my CB has a rotary squelch - I could not easily make use of the squelch switch to control the squelch.
I used a Multi Meter to figure out the action of each switch and wired accordingly to a pigtail I wired from my CB.

There are wiring schematics out there.  I quickly checked and didn't see them, but I'm sure someone here can direct you to their location.  Just remember that you do not want to mess with the other switches since they have valid control functions on even the most basic Valkyrie I/S

I looked there before I posted the question and didn't see the pictures and directions that I'd seen several years back. My switches are getting dirty since I have to push harder than usual to get them to work.

I have never seen instructions to clean them, but if you open up the box cleaning them would be pretty easy.  I stripped mine down and totally disassembled it and sent all the individual push buttons, levers, and case off for chroming and they are fairly simple little switches.


I took a huge amount of digital pictures "just in case" when I tore it apart.  If pictures of the "guts"  would help
